About Kids I found as we sheltered in a famillies front porch away from a sudden thunderstorm. These kids loved having their pictures taken as loads of them gradually came out of the house.

Original in color but converted to BW with a tint....all comments appreciated especially those with "room for improvement" comments.

Cheers for now

The tones and details are great. Did you crop this? If so, I'd look back and see if I could keep the entire left shoe on the little guy on the right, and I'd clone out that little foot peekin through on the left. Still, all in all, a great shot though. The tones are perfect!

Well done on the award mate.

I don't know if there is room for improvement. The tight framing works well and the decision to convert it to monochrome was a good one.

I love the gaze of the girl in the middle I don't know what it is but she has a quality that you often find in the old classic religous paintings. There is a maddona type of aspect to her stance that is interesting.

I like it.

I love the tint you selected. It fits the nature of the shot. You have me curious now. I would love to see the color version...

Manu,
Very nice picture. I love the three kids looking in three different directions, though the central girl in the darker outfit flanked by the two kids in the lighter clothing and looking up is definitely the main center of interest. The monochrome conversion and toning along with the white border give it the feel of a vintage photo. There are only a few minor areas I would consider changing. To show what I mean I went to PS and did a few quick and dirty changes. First, I cloned out the straw at the girl's feet, then I burned in the central character on the girl's dress and the bars in the window on the right side. (If I spent more time I might even consider cloning them out.) Finally, I dodged the girl's eyes to make them really stand out and applied a touch of local sharpening. Attached below is the result. It's not a huge improvement but I think it does address a couple minor shortcomings (especially the white bars).

Thanks for your comment. I'm having a look at your photos and this first one I open is already fantastic. Room for improvement? I really wouldn't know any about this one.

Inspiring image!! the eyes of a child say it all! hard to imagine how to improve this wonderful image. I may just lighten some of the shadow areas around their faces given the darker complexion, but that is splitting hairs. I am putting it in my favs!! Great shot Manu!!! -- Kind regards, Rafael

Wow...melts my heart. Fantastic in every way -- I especially love their expressions and sideways glances, the mussed collar and sweet, warm embrace of the child who is looking at you.

Thanks for your comment Manu. Really love this photo (knew it already, nice to see it is yours).

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 11/12/2005
I think a wider crop would be better; a square actually. The lighting is just lovely, as are their facial expressions.
