This was an unusual Background, the side of the house?
Sun Valley Floral Farms?.
As Sun Valley's exclusive brand of premium quality oriental lilies, Orchid Lilies offer fragrant, large blooms averaging over seven inches in diameter. Orchid Lilies produce two or more blooms per stem, and range in color from purest white to shades of sweet pinks, rich reds and even some bi-colored varieties. Many Orchid Lily varieties are exclusive to Sun Valley, the place of origin of the world popular Stargazer. Stargazer is an Oriental lily. Lilies are extremely poisonous to cats. Identified as the most dangerous types of lily are: the Easter Lily (Lilium Longiflorum), the Tiger Lily (Lilium Tigrinum), the Rubrum Lily (Lilium Speciosum), the Stargazer Lily (Lilium Orientalis), the Japanese Show Lily (Lilium Lancifolium) and some species of the Day Lily (Hemerocalis), but do take care with all types of lily.

I love stargazers although ours are not doing well this year. We usually have quite a stand but this year only a few are comming up and none in bloom yet.

I like the unusual background in this shot but it's too bad about the brown spot on the leaf. I hope you don't mind but I wanted to see how your shot looked with the brown spot cloned out.

One of your best Peter. Do like the unusual contrast between the bricks and the Lily. Very effective. The details and color are really spectacular. Great shot. Jan

Spectacular floral Peter...very nice DOF and color...the flower appears to jump right out of the photo.....although I know you ctach these where you can you might try darkening the background to make it a little lass distracting

Hi Peter,
You captured this beautiful flower just right!
Funny how the contrast of the bricks in the background does not harm the shot one bit. You would think it might, but just the opposite. The flower and the bricks go well together.

Ciao Peter,
Anomalous and creative this composition, with the background in contrast with the typical subject. Excellent result.

Andre Denis   {K:56823} 7/9/2005
Hi Peter,
I'm coming back to this one again because you mentioned that you didn't really plan the wall being in the picture. A couple of weeks ago I snapped a couple of some of our hanging plants and also got a wall in the background. Not quite as pleasing results as yours, due to the weird angles. And the fact that it is just a plain old Petunia.

This is very beautiful, I have always liked to take flower shots with some interesting background and this with the beauty and softness of the flower against the hard stone is really lovely. Alison
