nice colors and shot...
just didn't like yellow light in the upper part of the pillar. looks a little photoshop artificial...
anyway... its a really nice composition...

Thanks for your comment. You're right about yellow lights. They were really really bright so I tried to darken them a bit in photoshop. Any thoughts about how I can fix them?

hi Laurie,
I would prefer to let it natural an just make global ajustments, i don't like local fixes..
in this case I think you would gain a lot working with contrast and saturation..
at first i increased contrast and lowered brigthness.. at second I increased saturation and at last I worked in color curves in RGB mode.
let me know if you like it..

This is a very well done shot, Laurie. The different colors reflecting in the water are beautiful. Personally, I like the image as presented. With the vivid colors you have captured naturally, I don't see the need to adjust anything. My opinion ;)
For a hand-held night shot, you did great.

Laurie - considering no tripod, this is excellent. The reflective colors are great!
Did you try a few exposure times and settle on this one as the one that you wanted to post?

Without a tripod? Are you mad!? lol... I'm as bad I must admit! For a first attempt or not this is very good! Apart from blown out highlights on the bridge (which may well have been almost unavoidable without a tripod) the exposure is spot on! Lovely reds and golds in the water too. Keep em coming!

What a beautiful array of lights you captured here! Amazingly sharp for having been taken without a tripod - way to go!
I have to say I disagree with Cesar as far as the approach of making only 'global' modifications. Most of this photo is great, the only thing that is troublesome is the blown-out lights on the bridge, so why correct what's already good? I feel that his version, while also nice, loses some of the subtlety of tones - especially in the sky. I hope you don't mind, I took a stab at correcting the lights, while leaving the rest as is - hope you like it! :)

Thanks for your comment. I can't take all the credit for the steadiness--the lens has image stabilization which does help quite a bit. :)

I have an IS lens too, but I got it off of ebay and I don't think that it works as good as yours. So keep that lens of yours spiffy.

Hi Laurie, I'm glad you liked the 'fix'! I use Paint Shop Pro, so the tool names may be different, but what I did was to use the 'eyedropper' tool to sample the color just outside the bright haloes, then used the 'change to target' retouch tool to paint over that entire area, first changing the brightness to match the sample, then again to change the color to match. Finally I used the 'dodge' tool to bring back some of the pools of light that should be there.
