Cool effect. The DOF works well for me. A different texture for the background might add another element, such as a silky sheen or fuzzy cotton to contrast with the shell finish? Just some alternative choices.

Not much to say here Dwight, excellent composition and dof, the lighting is supurb and the clarity and detail is spot on. Great work and congrats on BIP award, I've always wanted to get the egg BIP, but never really submitted much.

James, Thank you! I was blown away when I got the BIP as I never figured it would rate that high. I played with about 100 images lastnight and after a lot of trying to decide which was best settled on this one. I'm I ever glad I did. You keep shooting them eggs and I bet you get a BIP too. Very nice Dwight, my only suggestion would be to try and get more DOF with a smaller f stop. Wonderful colors. Don.

Hi Dwight -- I'm learning much from this wonderful shot, a day after I did my own "egg shoot" in MF, very slow shutter with natural light, hoping to post late next week. DoF here is a matter of choice, I think, and it works beautifully here. I'm going for a white on white effect and hope to avoid too much PS to make it right. You've got fine work here...

Extremely well made shot Dwight, the amount of work you put into it really shows. The composition is simple, yet effective - I love the subtle detail and the colour too. Did you take time in selecting your eggs as they all look identical and without any imperfections. All the best for the future!
