About ?He didn't just make one!

Cairn Gorm means 'blue mountain' and it's one of the highest peaks in a range that's taken its name. You can see why they're called that as you look at this shot, taken from the road that leads from Cromdale (where we stayed) to Tomintoul (one of the highest villages in Britain). This particualr evening, as you can see, the light was really special!! The white dots, of course, are sheep.

Enjoy!

Best regards, Chris

Hi Chris, many thanks for your coment this evening, but i'm embarrased about it and stand in awe of this one Chris. This is absolutely the best Landscape photo i've seen in a long time. I will put it into my favourites so i can always come back quickly and admire it. This deserves an award chris, not mine! I wish i could influence it for you. Great lighting and layering in the picture. When i look at it i can hear myself humming... "and did those feet, step upon Englands pastures green" Know the hymn? I'm sure you do :)

All the best from Switzerland
Neil

Neil Dolman   {K:26883} 7/10/2005
@ Chris, me again! I had to check out the correct text :)

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountain green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?

But i'm sure you know that inside out and backwards :)

Cheers Neil

Hi Chris, Great lush tones, and a beautiful warm lighting. Classic scene, and nice framing, too.

Cheers,

Hugo

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 7/10/2005
Very nice scene, Chris.

Shows the great variation of liht and conditions in the British landscape. You get sunny parts and cloudy parts, all in the same frame.

Excellent capture. I just wish I could see more of the mountain...

Elisabeth D'Amico   {K:6353} 7/10/2005
Anothe gorgeous landscape. I don't really know how you can obtain such as those colors.

A lovely pastoral landscape, Chris, capped off by the planes of blue as the mountains fade in the fog and distance. Great depth as the sunlit fields in the foreground disappear into the hills and sky. Did I mention I like it? I certainly do! Wonderful photo, Chris. Best wishes and thanks for your recent commnets. Larry

Mary Brown   {K:68582} 7/10/2005

Exceptionally beautiful lighting, Chris! A wonderful scenic shot!
Dave.

Roger Williams   {K:83282} 7/11/2005
It always amazes me how high the mountains look in England despite being only foothills by the standards of most mountain ranges (the Alps, or Japan's mountains, for instance). I suppose it's that they often rise straight up from sea level rather than from an already high plateau... This is lovely, and the blue shading is wonderful.

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 7/11/2005
I know the song well, Neil ~ but I think the answer's 'No'! i.e. Those "feet" never did walk on "England's pleasant pastures"! The song's called 'Jerusalem' and it's always sung at 'The last night of the proms' at the Royal Albert Hall ~ I think!!
Thanks for your comments.
Best regards, Chris

10/10 gorgeous landscape..
In Australia we have this particular mountain range and a section of it is aptly named 'The Blue Mountains' they are a different style of mountain than the ones you you have there but the colour is the same.. Apparently there are gases released by certain native australian trees and they create a distinct blue haze.. perhaps the trees in your photo have similar traight.. well just thought i would share that with you Chris.. nutty aussies..hehe.. and the pic is a winner for sure.. cheers
Greg
