Another wonderful CD image of this series AJM.. the droplets and their reflections gave it a very nice abstract look in addition to the nice rainbow color tones. Well done my friend, Khaled.

Hi Sally! Thanks for your comment. I sprayed the drops from a water spray bottle (meant for spraying plants I think) and used a new CD straight out of the box. I shook the CD a bit and the water formed these very strong beads. AJ (PS: the sprayed CD is now in the freezer, just to see what might happen...)

Wonderful photo, John. Even better that you did it all within the camera. Very creative. Photoshop is great but it does make a person a bit lazy, I think. Personally speaking, anyway. I love your portfolio. Really, really exciting stuff. I will keep an eye out for future pics of yours. Thank you for your comments on my pic. Cheers, Ann.

Hi John, Very good clarity in this sht; the colourful refraction of the light in the CD as well as in the drops is always a key to success, but what I like most is the pearl shaped drops and their reflection on the CD; how did you achieve that? Very well done!
Cheers,
Huog

Hi Hugo! Many thanks for your comment. I got the drops using a water spray (I think it's meant for spraying plants), then simply shaking the CD. I used a CD straight out of the box for this one, and the water formed very high beads. AJ

Hi John, I did try that too, but the drops seemed to flatten out a bit, whereas yours are so beautifully pearl shaped /round, as if sprayed on a greasy surface.... I normally apply a very thin layer of oil on my product shots before I start with the plant watering spray thingy. that gets me the best drops. I'm amazed by the result!
Thanks for your reply,
Cheers,
hugo

Hi john,
I'm trying to replicate this and wondering how did you manage to get all these even lovely round droplets on the cd. Also what lighting did you use?
Appreaciate all the advise I can get.

Hi Ciprian,
I use new CDs straight out of the box - the water beads seem to form better. I use a water spray (intended for spraying plants) and then shake the CD to get a wider range of drop sizes. The drops form naturally without doing anything special. The light for this one was from a desk lamp in an otherwise darkened room. The position and angle of the lamp and the camera are crucial and require some experimentation.
Hope this helps - good luck!
John
