the lion king.. you to are a big one! I also have noticed that you are posting in the 4, 3, 2, and 1.. normally post before the 1, after 2 and remains to the contrary! in this way beyond to the big photo also perfect a sequence! already yesterday I have commented yours #4 and I confirm. optimal jobs!

can feel the atmosphere of the big city; b&w works fine here; I wish only there were more details in shadows at the bottom part of the shot and no light reflections on the upper right poster; however I know that would be difficult (or even impossible) to fulfill my wishes :-)

I'm amazed you got such a 'bright' exposure with only 200 ISO setting and a 1/15th speed, Hugo! Great job! You've captured a lot of atmosphere in this shot.

very nice street scene, the fish eye lens gave a nice effect. I like the distortion
excellent angle and BW tones too, only maybe a little bit too high the contrast. imho a more balance contrast would make it more wonderful (a little PS work needed :)).

Nice street scene. I find it slightly disturbing that I can't read the sign with the light on it although because of this it has added extra interst - so i guess this is good. Nice work.

The stories of busy city continues in your camera.you are able to find some dramatic angles with wide lens. indeed 10.5mm is a very good choice to creat some strange perspective and splendid feeling.just pity for compressing(of jpeg) that's some distract in pixels of black areas.

You're probably right. That's why I find photos of familiar scenes I stopped noticing so interesting. As if looking at your neighborhood through the eyes of a tourist.

I like the road and the bend it does in the composition.. from one corner and away! The grain works fine and adds power to the composition.. love the tempo and chaos a big town like this has. To bad the upper right corner got abit much light.. but overall its a strong shot! =))

the lion urges for the honey nuts...what can we do to bring them closer to him...
endless row of details in here...
as one of the biggest difference between us...I would hide myself here in several close detail shots...not tough enough to work on the whole...
but you are able to capture the complete composition...a talent I admire...

Deze lijkt wel wat op de eerste, alleen dan minder naar boven gericht. Wat ik me bij de eerste ookal af vroeg: Waarom staat daar 'amsterdam'. Deze foto is echt een straat foto, je ziet de man op de voorgrond popcorn verkopen, veel mensen lopen, allemaal bezig met hun eigen ding. De bioscoop ziet er erg indrukwekkend uit, al die lichten. Heet dat gebouw amsterdam, of is het gewoon als gedenk dat het vroeger amsterdam heette? Ik vind de licht reflectie op het bord rechtsboven alleen een beetje zonde, doet haast pijn aan mijn ogen, maar daar zal je in NY altijd wel last van hebben (licht). Wat ik verder nog opvallend vind is dat je een shutter van 1/15 hebt gebruikt en toch alle mensen 'bevroren' op de foto staan. Heel knap werk, mijn complimenten!

As the movement of the persons are not that interesting and not adding much ingredient to the photo, where some time with this situation we end up with an overcooked final image, but am glad that you did identified the strongest focal point and shifting position, by starting your image with the roasted nuts seller, and that does not need to be the biggest thing in the foreground, a smaller centre of interest like this one isolated by the surrounding nature can really be good start to scan the scene.
If I put the 3 images for comparison, the first of course then second and the last one where the upper space room is absent where the first image, the eyes can fly within the upper space as much as possible. As general am not with much interesting of the output of the fisheye lens, but I do like your work, mostly a space given to the foreground to eliminate any distortion.

Ha Lex, Wat je hier ziet is het New Amsterdam Theatre in de buurt van Broadway, waar ze de musical The Lion King opvoeren. New Amsterdam is waarschijnlijk inderdaad vanwege de vroegere naam van New York. Voor aanvang staan er overal Rosted nut stands. About the shutterspeed, I think it was something like that. In converting it to B&W, I lost the exif info, though. 1/15 isn't really that long to see the motion of the people walking by. Wat betreft de reflectie van de sots op het uithangbord ben ik het wel met je eens. Jammer, maar je doet er niets aan. Ik had het in Photoshop nog wel kunnen corrigeren, maar heb dat bewust niet gedaan, omdat ik buiten crop en B&W conversie zo dicht mogelijk bij het origineel wilde blij ven.

Wonderful wideangle shot Hugo wonderful to see you back on here :-)
The 1/15 at ISO200 is great with very little noise in the shadows.
I have my compact fixed at ISO50 because above 100 the noise is too bad !

What I like most about this photo is the movement and activity evoked! Alot going on but also alot of people standing around just taking it all in! Or maybe waiting for the fresh batch of roasted peanuts!!!!YUMMY!!!!My favorites!

It's hard to employ the fisheye effectively without resorting to cliche's, but you have succeeded here. There is a feeling of excitement that comes through. The choice of B+W seems appropriate.

You captured a lot of atmosphere and the lens with that angle is just rigt.
Sidelined...I'm really not the one who wants to discuss analog/digital, but I was sure that this was a converted digital. Thinking about your kinda style and photography, I can tell you with an analog cam this would have more more impact.

excellent choice that of tilting the camera, it gives a sense of vertigo that I find appropriate for NYC street shots. Nice contrast, too, with beatiful lights and shadows all around
