This is a fine shot and I'm surprised it has not received more comments. I believe it worthy of a BIP. Nice lighting and mood.

Randy

Thank you so much for your nice comment Randy.
I'm not sure it is an award winner, but I do like it for the mood too. I don't worry too much about views and comments, (although it is nice to get them) I see plenty of great quality shots that don't do real well in the comments and view department. So, I always tell myself I'm in good company :)
Thanks again
Andre

Love the mood, Andre. I thought that there was some extraneous space that didn't really add to the overall image, and tried cropping it a bit. What do you think?

Jon

Jon O'Brien   {K:10583} 7/15/2005
...I'll try that with the image now...

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the interest in this photo.
I see your point. I think it works well the way you have it cropped too. Usually I tend to crop pretty close, but in this case, I just liked the rest of the scene so much I couldn't throw it out.
One of the things that happens in your version is there are no distractions between his line of sight and the sun.
I like both :)

Lovely. One thing, try to position yourself so that the horizon doesn't slice through the head. This is one that drives me crazy when I'm shooting, as I often miss it, or it just is very difficult to achieve. But it really makes a difference in the end.

Very nice scene..love the sunset, silhuette and the lighting.. great work.
Luis.

Toni,
I was laughing to myself all the way through reading your comment on the horizon. Two weeks ago, I had some really nice light in the late afternoon. The light was nice and soft and the portraits I took came out great except for one thing... That stupid distracting horizon running right through the middle of the face. I told myself next time I would be consious of the horizon. Now, I've done it again! Although, I do believe it is not so bad in this image as the others from the week before. I know exactly what you mean and agree 100%. I will definitely try another angle next time.

Fantastic composition, lighting, and colors Andre! I agree with Randy, this was definitely worth the BIP! I like the original more than Jon's cropping, you're close up angle gives the image a great perspective!

Andre Denis   {K:57024} 7/24/2005
Thanks Fadel,
A very encouraging comment. One of these days, they might break down and give me an award :)
I don't worry about it though. There are so many great shots posted here.
Andre
