About I know this is a soft focus, but I wanted to post it anyway because I think he's just a beautiful dog.. I saw him over the weekend, a family was having a picnic on the grounds here where I live and I admired this gorgeous Cocker Spaniel, I got up the courage to ask if I could take it's photo and of course they were happy to let me, but when the dog wouldn't sit still they began to yell at him and grab at him, and I felt so bad I just said thank you and left. I didn't want the dog to suffer so I could take a picture. When I saw this I was surprised, and actually liked that it was soft, I sharpened it minimally to keep it that way. I didn't like the harsh look it got when I sharpened it anymore than this, it lost the soft beauty of his coat...I hope you like my soft little friend....:):)

Oops almost forgot, Dirck this is for you....:):)

Linda when I first saw this title I knew that it was for my brother. It turned out very nicely, I like the softer focus since it goes so nicely with the gentle nature and coloring of the dog. Alison

Dave Stacey   {K:113347} 7/12/2005
A very nice shot of him, Linda, and under the circumstances I don't blame you for not going for another one. It's a shame how some people treat their pets.
Dave.

Linda Bique   {K:73856} 7/12/2005
Thanks Dave, glad you liked my soft friend, yes I felt so bad to have caused him that...definitely not worth that...:):)Linda

I really like the softness of this photo. Sometimes the things we don't plan on can turn out the best.
Photographing dogs is tough and you have done very well here. You captured this little dogs sweet nature and he almost looks like he's smiling. Well done! :)

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 7/12/2005
Thank you Linda!! And Ubu thanks you, too! :) What sweet-looking dog this is - too bad they can't pick their owners, huh? He looks like a cross between a cocker and a golden retriever. I'm sure Ubu would absolutely love him (Ubu's a boy, too, but he's... um... 'altered' so he doesn't care one way or the other! :) The softness if fine - gives him that 'angelic' look :)

What a beautiful photograph and a lovely dog Linda. I like the soft focus, it makes it even more adorable (if that is at all possible lol)

Best wishes,

Expressive shot, Linda
Congrats

Roger Williams   {K:82213} 7/12/2005
Soft focus is fine as long as the eyes are not blurred. If you create a sharpened under layer, then use the eraser to remove the top layer just where you want the sharpening, over the eyes, for instance, you can leave everything else as it is. Great dog. A real softie!

Mary Brown   {K:67759} 7/17/2005
Linda, he is a beautiful friendly looking dog. I don't like to see people push their dogs around either. The softness does go with his gentle face. Great shot.
Mary

Cheryl Ogle   {K:24494} 7/17/2005
Ooooh, so cute and the story is wonderful. I know how you must feel - admiring the dog and then to have it get yelled at when you were just trying to take a nice photo. I love that you walked away. :) Very sweet - he looks very sweet in this shot and I love the smile.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30021} 7/17/2005
He has such a sweet, loving face. You mention the soft focus, but it seems that his eye is sharp as a tack. I like this about it. Beautiful portrait. Antonia
