About Water pumped into a farm dam in the arid Karoo, South Africa. In an area receiving less than 150mm of rain per year water is a precious commodity. The water on this farm is very brackish and also probably has a high iron content (as the oxidised calcerous layer on the dam wall suggest). However, it is fit for human and animal use and is the lifeline on this farm. Taken at about 14h00 with full sunlight and a very strong wind, almost blowing the water back into the pipe. Used a polarizer filter and adjusted contrast and brightness in PS.

Hi Joggie,

Great picture! I am a little surprised to see the effect of a polarizer. It seems to have changed the time of day. Appears to be 1700hrs+ rather than 1400. To me, a polarizer could only be used to eliminate unwated glare from the picture. I think your shot demonstrates a very creative and unconventional use of this device.

Fabulous golds and oranges, Joggie!!
An excellent composition and the title is almost Biblical!
Best regards, Chris

Great colours and reflection off the "frozen" water, Joggie. The curves and texture of the wall are also very appealing.

Great orange and red colours and the blue streak in the water
