About Last weekend we went to a family meeting on a town near São Paulo. It was a nice opportunity to do some images of those we seldom meet. But, naturally, the best shots were from the someone I meet everyday...

Here She is under a nice warm sun backlit scene that also serves as a showcase to some of this lens' (Nikon 85mm f/1.4D IF AF Nikkor) qualities:
skin color rendition, sharpness, depth of field, bokeh and contrast.

Aperture here was 4.0 (maybe 5.6, I'm not 100% sure as I wasn't paying that much attention...), speed around 1/250s to allow a nice rendering of the shadow areas. No reflector or wallas such was used.

Depth of field is very well defined with her face being sharp although skin color is sweet. Sharpness is amazing as always, but can be better appreciated on the bigger 300 DPI original scan. Bokeh is a world appart, I believe. All these characteristics more than justify this lens' cost. Observe how she seems to be on a separate layer from the background. It's impressive, gives a 3D sensation that's unique.

I belive had I shot this with Fuji's Provia (100 ASA) it'd be an even better image for colors, contrast and even sharpness'd be stronger. Not that this film's not fine, but Provia is superior. I found the absence of grain, color and contrast renditions very nice for a consumer 400 ASA negative film bought at a gas station's newsstand.

The camera was my mint 1977 Black F2A which caused some nice impressions. The more I use it, the more I adore it. If you've never experienced one, beware. There's no turning back.

Very nice capture with beautiful backlighting. That lens is a wonderful piece of engineering.

Lovely smile. The shot highlights the lens capabilities very well, from a portrait perspective I'd love to see her eyes and the space to the right seems like it could be cropped out making this into a portrait orientation. Wonderful lighting and color.
