Hi Paul - this is at ISO 200, and this the photo is from my first session trying the filter. I've already learned that you need to keep the apperture large - like an f5 - if like me, you try for an F20 - you get a hotspot in the middle of the poto!
Let me know if you do get a filter!

Hi Morgan - the filter appears to be jet black - you cant see through it at all (so you have to compose the picture on a tripod without the filter first).
I set the whitebalance by pointing the camera down at the green grass!
Then after I've taken the shot, I swap the red and blue channels over in PS, do 'auto levels' and 'auto colour' and that's it - I don't have to colour the sky blue or anything like that!

sally, this is wonderful! you mentioned in your comment to me that you were not entirely happy with your exposure but i see no issues with it whatsoever. there is a tad of a bright spot in the center of the frame but i suspect it is ps "residue", no? lovely colors, btw. did you squeeze them out of ps or did you use a second color photo as an overlay? the color definitely bumps up the surreal factor, don't you think? either way i think it came out fantastic.
i also see now what you meant about the frame. looks great.

Hi Tom - I've been doing a bit of web research, and the spot in the middle is apperenty because I'd set my apperture too small (F20), I've only had chance to take one shot to check this theory out and it seems to be true - bigger apperture, no hot spot.
The colour comes from swapping the red and blue channels in PS, then I click auto levels and auto colour - and this is how it comes out. I've turned that, and the frame into actions - so it's all done in seconds.

Straight from the camera, the image looks very red - to get the blues, I swap the red and blue channels over - so everything that was reddish goes blueish!

If you had not said it was taken through an infrared filter I would not have known. The sky looks strange but the rest of the picture looks like a light fluttering of snow. Interesting well done.

This is fantastic Sally, I have been using this filter for some time but just for black and white images. I was reading about your swaping the channels. I am at a loss as to how this is done. Could you please enlighten this old mind.

Hi Don - I can tell you how to do it in Photoshop (I hope that's what your using!).
Open up your photo, go to the 'image' menu and select 'adjustments' and then 'channel mixer'. The box pops up showing the red channel - where the slider for red is at 100% and the blue and green sliders show 0%.
Move the red slider to 0% and the blue slider to 100%, then click on the 'output channel' box and select 'blue'. Now move the blue slider to 0% and the red slider to 100% and click OK - that's it!
Just to finish off, go back to the image menu, select adjustments and then select 'auto colour' and then 'auto levels'.
If you do it a lot, you can create an 'action' that will do it all for you at the touch of a button.
If you do have PS CS2 - I could email you a copy of the one I made.

You've got a few choices - you could get a screw on type - like the Hoya R72 - in the diameter of your lens - this is the most expensive option.
Or you could get a cokin p holder and a cokin p007 filter - which is the option I like best (it's easier to use and cheaper).
Have a look on eBay - you can always pick up the holders cheaply, and the filter you can order online from speedgraphic. My email is S@lly.co.uk

I think I used the Hoya R72 for this shot - which is threaded. Since then, I prefer the cokin p007 - because it isn't threaded! It's a lot easier to slip it in and out of a holder to compose the photo than it is to screw it on and off!
