About This is the name that I came up with from looking at the pictures of flowers in our area. Hope that it is right.
Notice the dark center of the bloom on the original. To achieve the finished picture I used the lasso tool with a tolerance of 50 and outlined the dark enter, the used contrast and brightness to bring out the detail. This was a RAW image. Don.

Gorgeous light and colours, like the dof making the background almost limegreen, setting off the flower and buds so well. Great detail and composition and really like the framing

Brightening up the center was a good idea, Don. There is much detail in there that adds to the shot. Your composition is excellent as usual.

Looks like Helianthus maximiliani to me. Good shot, however, the brightness added to the disk flowers seems unnatural for this species(the "flower" on a sunflower is actually an accumulation of hundreds of tiny flowers. disk flowers=center, ray flowers=petals). Being more of a plant nerd than an artist, I prefer the original, but that's just me; what really matters is what you think.

Larry Fosse   {K:65776} 7/19/2005
Nice work Don....turned into a very well done presentation

Hi Don,

This is EXCELLENT. I like everything about this one. And the presentation is awesome.
Just viewed your original, I think I would prefer the finished flower's center to be a bit darker.

Nicely done Don,
Lori :)

Great flower shot!!! Beautiful colors, love the transluscent petals and 'hairs' on the leg eh sorry stem.... (could use a shave though... LOL), excellent DOF and composition.... well done!!! I would've liked the centre somewhat darker.... framing the original would've done it for me... ;-D!!!!

Larry Quigley   {K:12884} 7/20/2005
Very nice work, Don. The detail and color are greatly enhanced by your PS work and the framing makes a beautiful presentation. Thanks for the information in your "about". It shows the way we can make a good picture from a so, so beginning. Larry.

Good work, Don!
Maybe it's my monitor, but the centre of the flower now looks a little too bright.
Best regards, Chris
