the Bronx is a hilly place, with curious pockets. beautiful stones by the hudson. the palisades boasting. jets 500 feet above vectoring into la guardia. a hawk stood not 5 feet away from us and stared us down-- he or she was drinking water from a puddle--blistering heat (we barely gave him a glance, it was too hot to bother. ha--too hot to bother).
