Aqui vai uma idéia: que tal virar a foto para o sentido vertical, com a flor "em pé". Talvez não seja a verdade da cena, mas acho que teria mais impacto.

O que gosto muito de fazer com minha lente macro (uma Sigma 105 f/2.8, portanto muito parecida com a sua) é isolar um detalhe, nesse caso a pontinha da flor, com uma abertura bem grande (f/4 ou f/2.8), jogando todo o fundo fora de foco: parece que a flor esta "pulando pra fora" da foto.
