About This is another shot from the top of the bell tower by the castle in Warsaw Old Town. Once again, I think this is possibly trying to push the A2 too far?

Very good composition.. you had the luck the shadow follows the lines in the pavement .. well seen .. Peter

Nigel Watts   {K:11045} 7/21/2005
Great colours, and angles and direction.
Your title reminds me of a great piece of music, 'walk tall' by CannonBall Adderley, well worth a listen, turn the volume up and it'll shake your filling out.

Great capture with good long shadows. The red shirt brings this one all together.

Thanks for your comments also John. You are very kind.

Judi

Hanggan Situmorang   {K:37824} 7/22/2005
Superb framing and composition, John. Very good lighting and moment captured. Thank you for the greetings..:)

AJ Miller   {K:45790} 7/22/2005
Many thanks, Hanggan. I'll copy this to Mirza cos he really didn't like the frame. My own view now is that I didn't think hard enough about the frame - I've adopted "standards" for particular types of images and I forget to look at the details. You liked it, but Mirza made me think again - I'd perhaps now change the colour band from red to a brown that matches the pavings.

Hi Mirza! Many thanks for your comment. I guess I didn't think hard enough about the frame - I've adopted "standards" for particular types of images and I forget to look at the details. You didn't like it, but others did. But you made me think again - I'd perhaps now change the colour band from red to a brown that matches the pavings.

John,
Sort of the "walking man's" version of Riding the Line from the other day.

Great angle and composition... wonderful shadow.

Cheers,
-Kanjes-

Dr. Rafael Springmann   {K:86597} 7/22/2005
What do you mean by too far, John? this shadow photo is excellent, if anything, the best in this series.
Thank you for your kind comment on my "Wineglass in mauve."
Best regards and greetings from Tel Aviv.
Rafi

AJ Miller   {K:45790} 7/22/2005
Many thanks for your kind comment, Rafi. By "too far", I think I should be referring to my own limitations rather than the camera. I find it very difficult to get sharp macro/zoomed images using AF so have taken to manual focussing. For this image, I jammed myself into the angle of the railings at the top of the bell tower in an effort to reduce any camera movement to a minimum.

hi, red is always a good choice in a comp as the eye is attracted immediately and is the punctuation here...another good diagonal shadowcast with good contrast level...perspective choice is good again...regards,gayle

Stephen Bowden   {K:64519} 7/23/2005
Excellent capture AJ, the composition is perfect and the diagonal lines of the pavement match the shadow.

Very well seen and captured.

Best wishes,
Steve

Den Thompson   {K:30432} 7/23/2005
Great shot John. I like the way the subject, the shadow and the pavement pattern all form the diagonals. The splash of red colouring is spot on with that lighting.
Den
PS Thanks so much for your comments.

Eric Peterson   {K:4210} 7/24/2005
I like the composition and the square format, but the man being slightly out of focus does distract a bit. I'm not sure how you would get a camera like the A2 to focus on the man's head, as there should be enough DOF at f8 to have both him and his shadow in focus if you could.
Eric

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59974} 7/31/2005
GREAT shadow catch!!!!!!!!!!! I like the lines created and the red :)

Jeanette

Ornella Erminio   {K:3317} 8/4/2005
Bella l'ombra che forma una diagonale, non la solita foto scattata dall'alto, complimenti, ciao Ornella
p.s. non conoscevo quella versione di foto simile alla mia

cameny    {K:5880} 9/18/2005
Great image, fantastic shade & diagonal, nice red color that catches the eye, great composition and yes, maybe is zoom pushed a bit too far, we have certain lack of detail here. One way or another, great job!

NN     {K:26787} 10/21/2005
Excellent composing with light!

John Hatz   {K:147813} 10/22/2007
the best frame here, you include him nicely and his shadow to into the frame with a diagonal way...plus element his red clothes that adds a lot into the grey (mostly) colors of the photo!
Best regards my friend!
