What a super shot! I really like this. Wonderful backlighting. Very nice detail. Very nice color.

I think one of my weaknesses is that I don't fiddle around enough with the scene to get as much impact out of it as is possible. I tend to just see it and shoot it. I'll try different angles maybe, but I don't do enough looking at the scene itself for ways that it can be improved.

Did you try this shot without the twig by the ferns? I'm very new to this, but I'm learning to play around more, to take my time more and experiment more. Please just suggestions for a shot that I already like very very much, but replace the twig with maybe a rock or a brightly color leaf or lots of things to try.

Some ideas to consider, but really a nice one here.

Dave

I just looked at your portfolio and you have wonderful wonderful pictures. I hope my suggestions didn't offend you with my brashness.

I appreciate your feedback. The thing with photoshop or other software is you can do endless variations, ah if I only didn't have to sleep. I took a fair number of shots that evening and it was tough to get the light and angles just right. Now that I have got a digital camera I hope to try more variations of shots I before may have just taken one or two shots with a film camera. Glad you enjoy my portfolio.

Great lighting here, Larry! It make these ferns look startling against the dark backgound.

This is really a stunning photo...For some reason, I cannot stop looking at this and seeing a mother lecturing her two young ones...Just my vision :)

Never saw it that way but know that you mentioned it, it definitely has that feeling, she is telling them to eat well and grow tall.
