great shot Marcus

Colin Cartwright   {K:15699} 7/22/2005
Superb, bird flight capture, Armani!

1/1000s has caught this pelican's movement, nicely. Looks like you've panned it, to get this level of detail. Exceptional. I can only dream of getting shots like this.

Colin

p.s. I'm looking after a baby housemartin, that the cat brought in, at the moment!

Another beautifully arrested and composed image. You have a very good technique that shows in your wonderful pictures.

Pawel Kwasnicki   {K:9594} 7/22/2005
He is so elegant! Caught in a really nice pose; it needs a lot of cold blood and experience to frame the bird in such an attractive position; best regards, Pawel

Thanks for your recent comments Marcus. I always look at your shots but rarely comment because you usually already have about a million of them. Your pictures are the absolute best there are. This one is no exception.

George Black   {K:101993} 7/22/2005
A sensational shot, Marcus. This is a real beauty--in the world of pelicans, at least. He is a very graceful flier, and you've caught him perfectly.

Best regards,
--George

Linda Bique   {K:74033} 7/22/2005
Beautiful capture Marcus, I like pelicans too, the white ones are interesting for me maybe because we see more of the brown ones..this is very well done as always...perfect details and a wonderful composition...:):)Linda

Marcus Armani   {K:35759} 7/22/2005
Thanks Linda, they are one of my favorites, so dorky on the ground but graceful in the air, we get the brown all year at the beaches, but the white we only get for a short time, so i went out 3 days in a row until I got a shot I was happy with....
Thanks again

RJ !   {K:543} 7/22/2005

Tony Hall   {K:120} 7/22/2005
This is really a beautiful shot, I have neve seen a white pelican before. now I have a great view. thanks for sharing....

Gabriel Fuentes   {K:6565} 7/22/2005
You're the master! This is perfectionism: the side profile while the wings are deployed all the way (It's amazing to notice how you caught the right instant and angle so that the white feathers of the back wing provide a backdrop for the brown feathers of the front wing). It's an unrivaled and so well balanced composition; you've given him room to fly to. As expected, you froze the action, excellent dof, a beautiful and appropriately colorful blurred background, and the water at the base to remind us of his environment. Superexcellence Marcus ... ...Gab

Marian Man   {K:69445} 7/22/2005

Cheryl Ogle   {K:24494} 7/23/2005
Very beautiful shot. I love your nature work - I wish I could take these kinds of shots! I saw a bird today that I would've loved to have you identify (it had orange on his wings and flew so creatively - circles but winding at the same time). Once I got the camera and lens on he was way down the road. :( Kinda looked like an owl but not... any ideas?

Marcus Armani   {K:35759} 7/23/2005
Sounds like some kind of falcon, there are so many, did he have talons and a sharp beak, kind of gliding or flapping really hard? Hey this site has every bird you can find just about, maybe you can ID it and tell me what you saw......

What a perfect capture of this incredible bird. Very nice work Marcus. You have a great portfolio of birds.

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 7/23/2005
Marcus, you are the top dude on these in-flight shots. Superb work here. Lovely moment.

Is that the 400 DO lens? Do you hand-hold all the time, or do you use a monopod/tripod?

Larry Quigley   {K:12884} 7/24/2005
A wonderful pelican shot, Marcus. Your bird pictures continue to amaze me. The detail and color in this shot are excellent. Best wishes and thanks for your comments on my pictures. Larry
