I love this shot, I think it's amazing. The DOF is spectacular, the blurred foliage in the background makes a perfect backdrop. The colours are also wonderful, very rich and vibrant, and the wonderful natural light highlights everything quite well - also providing some nice shadows at just the right points.
An amatuer I may be, but in my opinion - this image is great, I love it.

I hope he's the first of many. I look forward to seeing many of his fellows... I appreciate the soft, natural colours. I'm a bit too slow on the drawn with my all-manual cameras to catch fleeting visitors like butterlies. I might manage slugs. But they're a bit less photogenic...

I'm so proud of Mr Itty Bitty, it's my first one...I went out not knowing what I would find, as always, that's part of the excitement of photography isn't it...I saw some little flowers on the ground and I thought hmmmm, then I saw all these little tiny butterflys flying around like crazy, and I thought of my friends here at UF, who do wonderful butterflys, so I thought I'd give it a try...it was fun and I was happy with the results, but yes you're right I never see these things here either...it was a surprise and I was happy. Once I get a picture of something I'm wanting something new so it was fun, and thank you my dear for your lovely comments and support...hugs and kisses to you...:):)Linda

Wow - what a great shot for your first butterfly! Outstanding job with the short DOF to really set this little guy off against the background - the mottling in the BG kind of continue the pattern on the wings, too...
