About I am walking through the typical sprawling Tokyo dormitory suburb ignoring (by long habit) the jumble of ads, noticeboards and road signs, parking lots and cramped housing, and suddenly I come upon this relic of the past, a traditional bridge with brass fittings and red laquer finish. Wow! Like it came out of a Samurai movie... And obviously VERY well cared for. It made my day. Hope it brightens yours, just a bit...

Looking at your photo's often makes me wonder how I'd cope with living in a big city, Roger. I'm so fortunate to have such a rich source of images, with beautiful countryside all around, and I think you do so well to keep coming up with different shots from your very urban environment. I'm glad to see from this shot that you can still be pleasantly surprised!!
Keep up the good work!!
Best regards, Chris

Thanks, Chris. Sometimes the inspiration does wear a bit thin. That's why I'm glad to have got into macros at last (Usefilm influence, there). A flower is a flower is a flower! Even in the concrete jungle they bloom away...

Now thats what I call a bridge. The red certainly makes you take notice, it even makes the adverts and boards disappear. Nice shot.

Nice lines. I love the red colour.

One has to live in Japan to understand what this RED BRIDGE does to a neighbourhood of greys with accompanying patches of green.Dear Roger, it lights up the whole image! I am crazy about all these constructions in red: bridges, shrines, temples...They make fabulous shots!
Warm regards from Gabriela
