About This print depicts a fictional scene. The real-life sky was an evenly blue one, yielding a featureless zone 5 (I had used a yellow filter) sky in the print. I found an old negative with a more dramatic sky (red filter + polarizer) and did a double exposure underneath the enlarger with gradual masking. This is the very first (and so far the only) print where I've used this technique.

Partially toned in thiocarbamide 50/50.

Scanned from print.

Beautiful image! Excellent composition and subject matter.

While the foreground is a tad over-contrasted (the trees are nearly lost in the terrain; blink and it almost looks like the house is sitting on the rim of the earth), I still like the effect.

Very memorable image...wall worthy!

fantastic composition, the plain in the foreground looks like Earth from outer space.

Excellent!

Congratulations on some skilled darkroom work, I for one would not have been able to spot the double-negative exposure (at least not over the www). I entirely understand the motivation behind it, cloudless blue skies yield an unmoving dull light grey on B & W negatives. What I like most here is the amazing roundness of the hill upon which the monastery sits so serenely. Rgds, Svend

This is a truly great work and to think you did it the hard old fashion way. Congratulations. I have used large formats years ago-now use 35mm mostly and 120 sometimes
