The orange areas are places where something has chewed on the tree. Macaques sometimes eat bark, as do Serow, which are also in the area.

It's just perfect steve. I love the framing and the way he is looking right at you. I know how hard it is for me to shoot in bad weather but to shoot in bad weather like this shot and come up with something this gorgeous is impressive.
