About Still more from vacation in Maine. While waiting for the loon to appear, I saw this dragonfly. The wind was quite gusty so the photo wasn't as sharp as I would have liked it, but I liked the image.

Dragonflies are one of my favorite subjects. I'm still trying to capture the ultimate dragonfly shot. Did you remove the background? Might want to consider just blurring it out and not removing it altogether.

Dave

Hi David,
Thank you for taking the time to comment on this image. To answer your question; no I didn't remove the background (I'm not sure if I even know how, I'm a newbie at PS). The dragon fly was in bright sunlight, while the background was in shadow (I metered in the sun with a incident meter. I have other photos of the same dragonfly and will wotk on them soon.
Thanks again for the comment and suggestion.
With regards
Ken

For sure the background should have been different. But the dragonfly itself looks good! My husband (who has a Nikon Coolpix5700)looked with envy at what a D70 might achieve.
Best regards from Gabriela

Gabriela,
I agree, with your comment on the background. I liked it when I first posted it but see the weakness. I've enjoyed using the D70, it has been a joy to use.
Regards
Ken
