An absolutely stunning image Dave. The way you've captured those waves emanating from the little boat is shear class. Into my favs. So very well done.

What a beautiful place to be... those mountains look huge! (and they probably are huge!) Great vantage point for this shot... the ripples in the water from the boat add an interesting texture.
It does seem a touch blue though... intentional? If not it could be the scan from the slide... that always happens to me.
Thanks for sharing... this is awesome!

The movement of the boat and the waves really makes this scene, Dave. I would instinctively wait for the boat to disappear, and would miss the best image. As with your son at Peyto, the human element can make a nice lanscape memorable.

Hi Dave, this is AWESOME! Wonderful depth, tones and lighting. This is one of the best landscape photographs i have ever seen. Outstanding work. Have you thought of using the bottom half of the image as an abstract? I am honoured and inspired by your comments on my page.

Asher Khan   {K:1459} 12/11/2005
Wow, check these patterens out in water. While your blue tone is very complementing for the water, it is a bit distracting for the mountains. I specially miss the drama that there could have been with the bright light in the mountain behind, but that would probably have made the photograph too busy. Great composition. Thanks for sharing

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 1/18/2006
Hi Dave, I've been browsing through your portfolio, and you have an impressive array of travel photographs.

Compared to the previous one, this one has a lot more going on in it than the previous one. Yet, the tones and the settings create a similar feel of tranquility and peacefulness. The patches of light on the mountains add a very powerful finishing touch, as do the ripples in the water.

As to the composition, I wonder if a minor crop on the lower part of the photo could perhaps balance the composition, limiting the view a bit. The water under the peninsula on the right doesn't, IMO add much to the feel of the photo, and only provides elements that are already present in other parts. It opens up the composition a bit, allowing the eye and attention to wander off from the scene. Per attached the cropped version I have in mind. Wonder what you think about it. Just a thought.

Either way, a spectacular scene, very impressive indeed.

Cheers,

hugo

Beautiful scenery, which was well captured by trained eyes. Nice composition and I like the water ripples too, which forms such a beautiful pattern. Though I wish for more color saturation in this picture, it is such a very nice picture.

This image IS Waterton! It doesn't need anything. Except enlarging. This is lovely!
