About This little boy with the curls in his hair stole my heart. He grabbed that handfull of seaweed and threw it at his sister. Hahahahaha...Adorable...:):) Needless to say she wasn't very happy with him....:):)

Converted to Black and White in PS and I included the color version as well for your viewing pleasure. I lost my sky in both of them, I think Dirck and George can help me with that...:):)

Mary Brown   {K:68582} 7/29/2005
Linda, it is so precious! Both are wonderful, but I prefer the b&W version for this. The composition and details are superb. Everything about it is appealing. Excellent.

Mark Hamilton   {K:8384} 7/29/2005
Hi Linda

Another good shot that works because of the simple composition.
I think it would have been hard to retain detail in the sky because of what appears to be a significant contrast difference. Expose for the boy and lose the sky or expose for the sky and lose the boy.

You could darken the top area in photoshop. This would help keep the eye in the frame. I have attached a sample just a rough example that would need some work.

Please forgive me for taking liberties with your art.

Mark

Linda Bique   {K:74033} 7/29/2005
Mark I love it...you have to tell me how to do that...I agree with what you said too, expose for one lose the other...please teach me how to do that..thanks...:):)Linda

Ameed El-Ghoul   {K:42174} 7/29/2005
Actually Linda I think it is much better without the sky, I don't know why, but I think it makes the child more into focus.
What I like about your pictures is the about as well, you always make us live with you the time you took the picture,
Thanks dear for sharing, cheers,

Dave Stacey   {K:120236} 7/29/2005
A wonderful shot, Linda! Exaclty the right exposure for the boy, and that's right where it should be! I like the b/w the best. The frame makes a big difference, too.
Dave.

Saeed Al Shamsi   {K:47644} 7/29/2005
This is a nice capture of instant atmosphere and emotion, the way backdrop thrown left the cute child figure out beautifully with child innocence. I prefer B&W version it has more impact .Fabulous. Saeed

greg collins   {K:11930} 7/29/2005

Greg

Robert Kocs   {K:89061} 7/29/2005

Maria Luisa Vial   {K:36017} 7/29/2005
Great curly little boy!!! Excellent shot Linda... As for the lost sky, you found a great solution... I also like Mark''s example... It gives more contrast between the boy and the sky... You had no choice here... You had to meter off the boy... and it was the price to pay... For this great great picture...

Kisses and Hugs,

MaLuisa

Marilyn Nagy   {K:6008} 7/29/2005
Linda, Every boys favorite thing at the beach, gobs of seaweed to throw at their sister. Very sweet and like this one in B & W. Adorable. Marilyn

Margaret Sturgess   {K:49403} 7/30/2005
Oh dear I am out of step with everyone - I like the colour version better, and with just tinge of colour and frame it would stop the sky disapearing into the background

Drats...why didn't I think of that..brilliant Margaret, thank you, did you use a layer and the render filter to add the color...and you know just the border itself would have made a difference but without the color the sky would still be like that...thank you my dear...it's lovely...so glad too that you are liking this series..I had the best time with this little guy....:):)Linda

Nice series Linda. Really enjoying it. I love to take photos of kids I don't know. They have no idea you are even watching them. You can capture some pretty amazing moments. You've done that really well here. Great job.
Susie

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 8/2/2005
Definitely a cute little kid (looks like me when I was a baby! :) So cute he can get away with murder! :) I like the way you took this with the little boy moving away, full of purpose and direction, and given wonderful context by showing him against the ocean and sky! Mark did a nice job bringing down the bright sky, but I think his version changes the mood a bit too much. Margaret's subtle approach is, I think, excellent!
In the end, I really don't mind the sky being completely washed out - in fact for me it enhances the 'beachy' feeling where the glare from the sky and the sand just overpower everything (and leave you blind for about 5 minutes after you go inside! :)
Really good, mi amiga - abrazos!!

Linda Bique   {K:74033} 8/2/2005
Susie thank you so much for your wonderful comments on my images...I have been meaning to get to yours and will be trying to do that today, but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your looking and commenting...thank you...:):)Lindaa

Linda Bique   {K:74033} 8/2/2005
Thank you my dear...yes he is so cute, when I see his little face no matter what is going on, my heart just melts. I was hoping to see them again this last weekend to give the mother some prints, but we went away kind of last minute and I'm sure they've gone..maybe I'll see them again. He was such a joy to photograph. Thank you for your detailed comment, very much appreciated, please don't feel that you have to comment on all of them, I know how hard it is to catch up....kisses and hugs...:):)Linda
