About Subject background: Silhouettes in Nuremberg, seen in front of a private garage (Privatgarage). The private garage has an entrance (Einfahrt) and an exit (Ausfahrt), but you won't find a difference between them. like in life sometimes: you don't know if you open a new door or if you just go back to an old one.

PS concept: No PS besides scaling and framing. the overexposure and the tilt are deliberately ;-) Hope you like the outcome.

Hi Thilo, an extraordinary and very surprising effect using the exposure (spot metering, I presume....;) to create the blown out bits, Quite an unexpected effect, but an outstanding approach, as the high key foreground creates a beautiful framing. Very, Very impressive way of handling. No nitpicking here, this is the way to show people what you can do with a camera. Superb approach!

Cheers,

hugo

Hi Thilo,

I like this one a lot... Love how you managed the lighint here... Excellent compositon... The man walking adds dynamism to the shot... Great idea on the high key foreground... It creates a wonderful contrast with the Garage door... Very well seen and performed...

Cheers,

MaLuisa

Hi Hugo,

I'm not very good in foreseeing the feedback or the interest an uploaded picture gathers. To be honest, I'm really bad in that field. Normally, pictures I like don't get a lot of feedback, and pictures I don't really care get hammered with views ;-)

This time, I didn't expect very much as the subject is kind of special. So I appreciate your and MaLuisa's feedback a lot. You are right about the spot metering here =) I'm currently looking into the issue that I always get good lighting results with my F65 and that the metering results of my D70 are generally not so high quality. Spot metering is a tricky thing but a very interesting field to play around. When I saw this subject, I know that I can do some high key pictures.

I'm really glad you like the outcome. And I like the way you described the picture... I really wanted to show what's possible if you go on manual mode. I'm currently looking into a pin hole mod for the D70 ;-)

best wishes,
Thilo

Hi MaLuisa,

thanks a lot for browsing by and leaving your wonderful comment. I knew that this image won't produce a lot of hits so I really appreciate your constant and creative feedback.

best wishes,
Thilo

hi there, i applaud you for doing something unique and different whether it be in-camera or with some PS....i like that the silhouette is the positive white instead of the typical all black...and as you know, tilts are usually very ok with me! ;> AND,i just learned einfahrt and ausfahrt!...good outcome,Thilo...hugs,gayle

Ciao

interesting concept, very twilight zone... :)

Deliberate tilt by you, Thilo??? Hard to believe! :))

The over-exposure is very cool, though. I honestly thought at first that you had selectively inverted that silouette for a negative look.

A truly alternative way to make a silhouette. "Genial!", as they say in France.
