About to be so vicuous. "In Louisiana they call them French Mockingbirds. To some folks they're 'butcher birds.' But their proper name is Loggerhead Shrike.
Loggerhead Shrikes are songbirds with attitude. They are efficient killers that sometimes store food from one meal to the next by hanging victims on barbed wire or a thorn -- like a butcher might hand a side of beef. While not considered threatened or endangered in Florida, Loggerhead Shrikes have disappeared from many areas and are birds to watch."
These were all over today chasing after bugs. Fun to watch!

Lovely creature, Marilyn. She looks very safe there. Well composed, congrats!

There's one thing that gives him away Marilyn, the long featherless leg. Makes him have that rough and ready look. Superb capture and very informative write up.
