About We'd finished dinner at Fisherman's Wharf and were searching for something to photograph. I looked over the railing (from the restaurant patio) and saw this boat. This scene was so interesting to me with the fuel shining on the water, the leaking row boat - with seaweed attached - and the flowers on the ledge. This boat was, and hopefully still is, floating in the Monterey Bay. Enjoy!

What a splendid juxtaposition of old/new drab/colorful and living/dying WOW!

Nice find Debby! I like the perspective here! Looking down at the boat works well!
The oil produced some nice colors! The flowers in the foreground are nice to see! Maybe You should have included the tip of the bow to balance out the image.Just minor. It's a real nice photo debby! My best.................John

Very nice Debby, Makes it look like the boat was full of flowers. Don.

This just went into my favorites, the composition is great and the bright colors so inviting, even the oil slicks in the water. The textures of the old boat and the lighting are perfect. Alison

I like the POV here, at first glance the flowers appear to be growing in the old boat, but then I realize that they are on the ledge, the oil in the water creates some wonderful colors in this image. I like this very much! :)

John, Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I actually took several shots of this scene - hoping to get everything I was looking for - the boat and the reflections. When we returned home from vacation, I realized the image with the tip of the boat didn't have the reflection I wanted. I guess I'll have to fly back to CA, maybe today. Gotta get to the airport. ;-)

I really like this image, I see so many images taht give no sense of place, like a slide show that I went to today, I was so disappointed in some of the images, but not here, I like this. Great work. A 7++

Great perspective and your "about" confirms that if you look hard enough, there's always something to shoot.

Good light on this even though you seemingly had two highly varying brightnesses.

Best to you,
Dave
