Love your portraits David. This is another great one. Nice interest with the fence. Fresh, candid expression. Logo is a bit distracting, but I guess that's the down side to candids, huh? Nice work. Susie

thanks a lot Susie, the logo on the t-shirt is something I see with very different eyes. I guess thats why I never thought of it being distracting. Aaron is very much into the characters of the movies he sees. Jungle book's Hati (the elephant leader) is cool in his eyes and he often askes specifically for the Hati shirt. He also loves Toy Story a lot and just the other day he said he wants to be a flying toy, too :) It is absolutely amazing how he sees those characters. That's why I see this t-shirt very different on him than other people I think.

The light is just beautiful -- what a wonderful candid expression -- and I love his hair...a little Dennis the Menace. Fabulous! Antonia

That dappled lighting in the background looks so beautiful. GREAT bokeh too - how do you find the 1.4 lens over the 1.8? I'm thinking of upgrading in the near future. Personally don't find the t-shirt distracting in this instance cause it's like a slice of real life.

thanks a lot Amanda. Regarding the 1.4 lens, there is not too much of a difference to a 1.8 but when I decided to get a 50mm lens I simpley wanted to get the better alternative. Not sure about the Canon lenses but I assume it is similar. The 1.8 is usually the less expensive solution, so its not only the 2/3 f-stop difference but the glass is higher quality in the 1.4 version. I'm very happy and would always go the same way again.

David, thanks for your comment on the advantages of a D50. I can see why you need the higher speed of a D2H if you are taking children! They sure move FAST! Since I looked at the D50 I've been thinking of one of the Pentax *ist DSLRs, because this would allow me to use my beloved M42 lenses... But I'll probably postpone the move to digital as I love the wide-angle end of things and DSLRs are weaker in this range. Also I'm an old dog, reluctant to learn new tricks...

Hi Roger, thanks for stopping by. The Pentax is a very fine camera, too. And if it allows you to use existing lenses that's a big plus. That was an important fact for me over the last 20 years. The wide anlge thing on digital SLRs used to be a problem in the beginning, but fortunately all brands have wide angle zooms availabe now. I know how it feels to let go of something you know inside out, but I'm sure you would quickly love a dSLR once you have it.
