As said before, I like the perspective and you did best you could. Scenes like these beyond the range/capability of the camera used.
For architectural pics go for 35mm SLR in small format or a DSLR.

Lori I understand some of these places won't let you take a tripod in to begin with. How about a rice/bean bag then you can mash it to meet your needs. Excellent shot by the way despite the low light.

Hi Lori,
Excellent idea of using such an exreme low camera position. Not only to keep the camera steady, but it also creates a sensational perspective. Never thought of that before. I always wedge my camera on one of the benches, capturing the back of the benches in front of me.
It came out really well. Very good shot, and thanks for the tip:)

Glad you could use a tip. I first learned about this long ago at a seminar. Of course the camera I used for weddings was bigger and heavier making it easier to do. I just used to sit the camera on the floor and put a pencil under the front, worked every time! It makes an aisle shot of the wedding GREAT! And it's centered.

I'm glad all your wedding experience equipped you to deal with situations when practicing real photography. Ha. Just joking. I have a lot of repect for wedding photographers and the pressure and the dealing with all kinds of people, not all of them at their best. Then afterward, they want the one view you didn't get. This is a nice, symmetrical image and quite appropriate for this kind of subject. The tripod might have allowed an even slower shutter speed to gain more depth of field. But you know all that.

That was the way when we were into weddings wasn't it. Make do with what you have. I never carried a tripod when shooting weddings. Beautiful old church. I used to double expose the bride and groom with and interior of the church. Don.

Hi Lori, when I first look at this picture, I like it... especially the low angle.... very good idea!
Me too... like to put my camera to time mode, place my camera on the floor and let it capture by itself... no worry of handshake....etc.

Well, IMHO, placing your camera onthe ground is the right things to do Lori. You capture the entire screen from ground up, enhancing the graciousness of the altar. Just a bit thought, what if it's cropped to the last arch, I think the other arch at the top is quite distracting (although it's also wonderful).
