About Toshizo Hijikata was a man who served Japan's traditional ruler in the days before the Emperor Meiji was restored to power. He and Isamu Kondo led a company of men, often of humble origins, who fought on the losing side. This statue is in the grounds of our famous local shrine. I thought sepia suited the subject... (This is a closeup cropped from the much larger version I uploaded earlier and had second thoughts about.)

Good detail, Roger, but given it's a crop from a larger shot I'm not sure why you took his feet off and left the space above his head!
Best regards, Chris

There's a sort of fascinating symmetry to this. Straightforward. No nonsense. Maybe your impression of how this character really was. I also second Chris's comments about the lack of feet showing.

In other news, I received the 50mm finder for my T yesterday. Now, I am waiting for the lens . . . a 50/1.5 Summarit, which I have always liked. It is not considered an outstanding Leitz lens by most experts.

No feet, Chris, only the plinth on which the statue stood.

When I get to work tomorrow, Christ, I'll post a smaller version of the full frame (which I briefly posted but dcided to "pull" because of the first comment...). There really are no more feet than I've shown here. Maybe I should have included the plinth...

Aahhh?
So!
Best regards, Chris

Here's the shot I was telling you about, Chris. See what I mean?

Full Size Shot

I see it now, Roger!
He was obviously 'foot free and fancy loose'! )
Best regards, Chris

I was a bit concerned that some people might take him as a rather fierce woman with those skirts. They're actually no more feminine than the Scotsmen who wear kilts, which is not at all! LOL

Sepia certainly does su9it this, Roger.
You have posted over a dozen shots since I have had a chance to look and my next couple of days are going to be quite busy--little or no computer time. So, I can't comment on as many of your shots as I would like.
Mary
