Hi Jake, Excellent use of Minimal DOF. It makes the viewer purely focus on the cigarette stub. Good and well balanced composition. Perhaps a slight counter clockwise tilt in the image, creating a lower left - upper right diagonal could've increased the dynamism a bit. Also, a little subtlety on the yellow and red levels comight've created a more natural look in the fileter. On the other hand, the high level of saturation makes it really jump into the eye.

You are right about the dynamism, this shot is a try to use a minimal and selective DOF with my new canon 85 f1.8 ... :)
I think is also oversharpened ...too much.
