This is flawless, and leaves me speechless. Absolutely gorgeous!

Kes     {K:18710} 8/14/2005
Wow! Wonderful! From here to infinity!
Really superb foreground and sky.

Neil Dolman   {K:26883} 8/14/2005
Hi Carsten, wow!

Neil

Carsten Ranke   {K:14459} 8/14/2005
Hallo Neil - danke fürs vorbeischauen ! Klar, viel dodge and burn... War eine Mordsarbeit, das zusammenzumontieren und Tiefe zu gewinnen. Zum Himmel: ich liebe nun mal starke, kräftige Farben, immer an der Grenze zum Kitsch ;-)

Viele Grüße
Carsten

(übrigens: dein Deutsch ist nahezu perfekt !)

Don Price   {K:1376} 8/14/2005
excellent, you must never have a clear day without clouds (;-)
Tnx Don

Carsten Ranke   {K:14459} 8/14/2005
Don, more than 50% of the time we have clouds here, fantastic conditions for landscapes ;-)
Thanks for your comment !

Don Price   {K:1376} 8/14/2005
That neat... here in the southwest we are clear sky about 90%+(avg 7" rain a year) except in late July August there are monsoons mostly in the mountains around us ( live in the desert valley) so I'm collecting clouds for later (:-))
Pixmaker works fine tnx again
Don

Wow! Very dramatic clouds, beautiful, moody landscape dear Carsten! Love the very stirrin sky with blue-grey tones. Excellent composition, very weel balanced presentation! Splendid work!
Best regards!
Robert

David Hofmann   {K:23830} 8/14/2005
Very nice one. Has a very nice warm summer-feeling. The sky is very dramatic, as always :) (which I like!)
Personally I think the dark cloud in the upper left corner is a little too dark for the overall daylight feeling of the scene.

Zeev Scharf   {K:24824} 8/14/2005

The photos that you take and put together are soo intense. One of the few people that you can actually feel the depth and sense of 3D coming out. Amazing, as always I love looking at your Posts.

Wayne Harridge   {K:11817} 8/15/2005
You've obviously spent some time on this one and the results are certainly worth it.

I didn't realise there was anywhere in Germany this flat - looks like Australia !

...Wayne

Carsten Ranke   {K:14459} 8/15/2005
Wayne, you have been in Germany ? Great. This plane is actually not so large, the superwide FOV makes it look sooo large.
Cheers
Carsten

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 8/15/2005

Well Carsten, if you're still on your learning curve for your "digital darkroom" skills, you surely can't have far to go. Nicely stitched together.

Great DOF here, a nice balance of colours, and great lighting in the cloud formations.

Peter De Rycke   {K:40426} 8/16/2005
Wow, you're a master a this kind of photos, really envious on this one, so brilliantly finished .. Peter
Where does one find tips on this kind of finishing with layers ? I understand the layers principle, and that the mode was "multiply", but what do you mean with blended ?
Regards, Peter

Lori Stitt   {K:74437} 8/19/2005
Hi Carsten,

WOW! What a spectacular sight this is just awesome! And SEVEN Tiffs? Bet your computer slowed down a bit!

Beautiful colors, quality, clarity, composition.
Stunning,
Lori :)

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30036} 8/20/2005
Lovely...these expansive landscapes are breathtaking Carsten. Antonia

Carsten Ranke   {K:14459} 8/20/2005
Peter, thanks for stopping by (and excuse the delayed response, quite busy after my holidays now...).
I found tips on layers for landscape on luminous-landscape.com ("understanding digital blending" section), there are many other sites with free info on the net but this is quite comprehensive and understandable.
With "multiply blended" layer mask I just mean the blending mode, here multiply. A composite, with a layer mask other than normal blending mode. My preferred blending modes are multiply and soft light, opacity 10 to50%.
Cheers
Carsten

just to show what I mean...

Peter De Rycke   {K:40426} 8/20/2005
Thanks Carsten, you surely helped me on the way !

Breathtaking! Creative shot!, I'm sure the real view is not as strange as what you've performed here :),
many thanks for your kind comment on my "patience of the earth",
Kind regards,
Maryam

FERDINAND DOTREMONT   {K:6599} 8/23/2005
Very dramatic landscape, great work, beatiful colours. I had also a look at the photos you made during my holyday, they are splendid.
For this one I should prefer a rectangle and eliminate a few cm of the bottom, I think that would make the composition better.
Ferdinand.

Carlos     {K:12969} 8/23/2005
Haymaking (III) continues the high standards you?ve set Carsten. You?ve cornered the territory - the WOW landscapes are yours and yours alone! The educated detailed technique always a treat, always generous?! Fine, fine work!

Linda Bique   {K:74033} 8/28/2005
Carsten this is another lovely vista...of course I like the clouds and the lighting is beautiful, the depth you've created with the layering of the clouds is wonderful. Love the blues and golds, great complementary colors, and again the huge expanse is excellent, love the lines in the field leading the eye to the vanishing point, and your stitching is seamless, I looked hard and cannot tell where you did it, very nice work...:):)Linda

Mary Brown   {K:68627} 8/29/2005
Spectacular, Carsten. The rich tones in the field are fabulous. I do LOVE the sky.
MAry
