About Relax and imagine and move back in time whit your mind and ride along the historic Kjölur trail as Icelanders did throughout the centuries while traveling to their big summer parliament at Thingvellir, first held in 930 AD. This historic place which has since become a National Park, famed for its beauty and its position right on top of the Mid Atlantic ridge, where the continental plates drift apart. Stop at the famous Geysir hot spring area and enjoy majestic Gullfoss Waterfall before leaving civilization for the rugged wilderness of the interior. Travelling from South to North or vice versa right across the heart of Iceland you will find yourself in between huge glaciers, remote desert like you can see on this picture , and yet again in vast green meadows where only young horses and mountain geese roam free during summer. Hveravellir, a geothermal area in the highland, invites you to a long hot bath in a nature pool under the midnight sun! If you want to see as much as possible of the Icelandic highland, you have too consider too travel whit me and you are welcome :)

Hi, like the contrast between the foreground and background, however I find that the foreground is a little bit too dark for the me;
well composed, like these stones in the foreground;
regards
Lukasz

Hi . Icerock. SuA very powerful shot. I tend to agree with Lukasz with his remark on dark foreground, but it also creates a separation between that part and the background. That works very well in buidling the composition. I'd also agree with you, it is quite challenging to shoot landscape in B&W, but you succeeded well.

I've been to Iceland once, and it's nice to know what you're talking about. I'd love to go back, the impression that nature is so much more powerful than man,, and that mankind has to adjust itself to the forces of nature was almost tangible.

Cheers,

Hugo

Thanks Hugo,

What you see in foreground is a black sand stone from volcanic eruption made from ash and if foreground is lighter picture will loose this special mood, and that is what make the different of being a article picture from documental one :) but if you want too se detail in this stone I can send you one in mail

Your About is wonderful. It is like a mini tour. I'd love to take the real tour. This is a bautiful shot. I really like the cloud on the mountain top and the rocks in the foreground. This has a very peaceful feeling to it.
