great photo

Danny Brannigan   {K:16381} 8/19/2005
Good heavens Angelo. Now we have reached the Depths. Actually it is very interesting yet scary. There is just enough of the image to let us know there is someone there. In the North East some of us still have coal fires.I wouldn't mind a print of that to put on the Mantlshelf to keep the children away from the fire.

Guilherme Labarrere   {K:4921} 8/19/2005
Sombria essa foto heim Angelo.

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 8/19/2005
KA-CHING!

You can have a print for a snip at £1,000 Danny. Special price.

Or I'll exchange it for one of your L-lenses.

Maria Luisa Vial   {K:36017} 8/19/2005
Scary portrait Angelo... Love the composition... but I cannot say I really like it... It obscure for me and creepy for my taste... It is no always that something creates in me a feeling of liking and dislike at the same time... Just my humble opinion here my dear friend... :)

Sorry for not being commenting lately... I am facing a very big challenging project at work right now and it is consuming all of my time... I will try to catch up later...

Cheers,

MaLuisa

Yesterday I was viewing the news (Not something I do frequently) and saw that an investigation was performed in the case of your friend Jean Charles de Menezes... Hope justice is done... As it has come to light that it was done on purpose...

Why can it be that people may do these terrible things???? Why are letting these to happen???

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 8/19/2005
Thanks, Maria.

I realise this one is quite experimental, not everyone is going to like it. I appreciate your honesty.

Kevin Collier   {K:19076} 8/19/2005
...greettings Oh Blurry Angelo -- I love it!!

Ian Crean   {K:14863} 8/19/2005
There's something hypnotic and demonic about this, your eyes just hold the viewers eyes fixedly, a challenge to look away. Different, and SO different to your recent office portraits. Have a great trip to India, and do try to keep the curry out of your beard, it stains something rotten. Now that would be scary, flourescent yellow streaks! Ian

Sherri Hamilton-Houston   {K:63} 8/20/2005
I find this image very disturbing (I don't know why) but i really like that soft painterly texture

Sally Morgan   {K:9219} 8/20/2005
I know I said I like to be able to picture people - but now I'm going to think of the boogeyman every time I view one of your photos! :)
Anything less sinister?

Paolo Corradini   {K:53032} 8/20/2005
finally we see Angelo! this is a great shot...you seem a ghost with this effect! ;)
really well done!n I like it

greetings

PAOLO

Marcia .   {K:16108} 8/21/2005
Ahhh, Angelo, poderia ter postado uma menos sinistra... )
Mesmo assim, prazer em vê-lo. :-)

Um grande abraço,
Márcia.

Bradley Prue   {K:30312} 8/21/2005
Don't blame anyone....this is an exceptional use of lighting, and focus. The image is so elusive, yet so mesmerizing! Great work, Angelo..

tom rumland   {K:14874} 8/21/2005
mira rasputin! ;^)

i dig it. bummer that i just shaved my hermit beard yesterday ;^) how'd you do it? camera on a tripod and painted yourself with a flashlight? completely dark room? just curious as it looks very spooky. has the unnerving quality of appearing half real, half photograph. very cool.

take care,
tom

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 8/25/2005
Hi Angelo,

well, this is strange stuff ;-) but nevertheless cool stuff. a bit hairy though ;-)

best wishes,
Thilo

This certainly is interesting. It's a great experiment, Angelo. There is a feeling of haunting with this. It somehow gives me the sense that you are floating in a dream and are not really real. It is certainly a switch from your usual shots. I do prefer their cheery moods better, but if one does not experiment, one does not find new ways of expression.

Mary Vareli   {K:15816} 8/31/2005
it is moody and a bit spooky , yet i like it as it is intense and eye-capturing!

Roger Williams   {K:83282} 8/31/2005
Don't see why you blame Sally Morgan for this, Angelo... Is your middle name Rasputin?

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 9/2/2005
Tom,

You got the concept. Maglite flashlight. I blurred the background a bit as the wardrobe had a distracting pattern.

Gayle's Eclectic Photos   {K:91003} 9/3/2005
Wonder if you could sense that i was staring at this image? hehehe...the longer i just let my eyes focus on your eyes, the more depth i could see to the total image....i find that thin vertical line to the side of your head a bit distracting, but love the almost ghostly mirroring with blur...the overall darker tone works well for the mysteriousness of the portrait...to me,you have the look of a revolutionary, or an ascetic!
peace, gayle (nice experiment with the flashlight!)

Mohammad Reza Shahrokhi Nejad   {K:7111} 9/3/2005
good job.

Marcio Janousek   {K:19803} 9/4/2005

Todd Miller   {K:16464} 9/14/2005
lovely image Angelo! great subdued tones and softness. painting with light is an accurate title.......
cheers,
todd

svend videbak   {K:7376} 9/19/2005
I like it. Maybe a hint more definition around the eyes would have been good. How did you manage to light-paint yourself?

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 9/19/2005
Thanks, Svend. Glad you like it.

I stood with a small battery-powered light in my hand, and used my arms to circle it around my head. Hence the motion blur...

abhra aich   {K:8524} 10/20/2005
I WOULD RATHER THANK SALLY FOR SUCH A NICE EXPERIMENTAL JOB.ABHRA

Olga Melissa   {K:19369} 10/30/2006
did you use a tripod? How did you create this totally blur image, and yet so still and austere...?Wonderful.
