About Another shot of Ovenden moor, again with the 15-30 on, think this was at about 20mm.

I've got the moodiness into this by using a grad on the sky, then really dragging the exposure down in Photoshop's RAW editor - took itto about -2 stops.... a bit extreme.

Then added a dodge layer and brought the road out to iut's natural brightness and upped the brightness of the sky a little with a curve.

The result.... definietly a "Moody Landscape", the title's pretty obvious I guess :-)

no polariser!!!

Dramatic lighting Ade, even if it is manipulated.
I like the fact that you explained your process. that's what this site is for. Too bad every member doesn't realize this. Thanks for sharing.
p.s. You could consider changing the title to,"Follow the Yellow Brick Road Into Future Energy Sources" lol

Nicely done, thank you for the explanation as well, I love how these photographs turn out, but never really understood them. Something I can try out now, Beautiful shot.

I'm giving all my secrets away Matt!

main thing to remember is that you can do masses more with a RAW file than a JPG - JPG's start to look shabby if you play with the levels, you don't get that with RAW.

it took me a different level when I swapped!

Not entirely convinced by the catchiness of your title.... :-)

Great shot, eerie mood!!! I would've liked it more if those windmills stayed bright white (esp. the one up front has gotten quite dark due to filter and post processing...), but that's me... ;-D!!! Super sky, great view/perspective... love the fact that you can follow that road into the distance, excellent composition... well done!!! BTW the songtext: 'We're gonna rock down to Electric Avenue and then we'll take it higher' (Eddy Grant) immediately came to mind... LOL!!!

Lukasz Kuczkowski   {K:14687} 8/20/2005
o this is really moody landscape; love the light and warm here;
well composed;
considered shot

Antonio Trincone   {K:23167} 8/20/2005
Of the two I prefer this one with more sky than the other; in compositive terms it could be nice adding a human presence for scaling dimension of electric instruments

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 8/20/2005
Fantastic shot, Ade!!
Brilliant light, composition, everything!!
Best regards, Chris
