Two weeks! Lol I'll leave it alone :-)
The results are dam good. this one has a metalic look to it.. I supose when dropping fruit into water, timing is everything...
Are you firing the camera by hand? The tech in me is thinking up a triggering circuit :-) The displation of the water could be use to complete a circuit... a little variable delay adjustment... Hmmm....

Definately worth the effort - I particularly like the 'bubbly' bits on top of the lemon What did you drop it into - a fish tank? Are you going to do a mini-series with different fruits and vegetables?

That's the difference between using photography to capture what happens, and making things happen so that you can photograph them! Lot more creativity required in the latter, I'd say. This is encouraging! Look forward to more in this series.

Hi Pat! Many thanks for your comment. Yes, the camera was fired by hand. Your suggestion of making this automatic is interesting since, as you suggest, timing is everything. But, catching the image at different times also changes the effect, as does dropping the fruit from a different height. So although firing by hand does lead to a certain randomness, it does also mean that I get shots of the fruit at different stages in its drop (and with practice, not too many before it hits the water?) AJ

Hi Sally! Many thanks for your comment. For this particular shot I used a spherical vase that looks a bit like an old fashioned fish tank. The full image is attached so you can see more of the setup. But in fact I?ve been experimenting with different shaped vases and they all produce very different results. One vase in particular produces a wonderful water spout when the lemon drops in, but for some reason I added green food colouring to the water when I took those particular shots and the results look naff. I hope to upload some more, but they?re likely to be mostly lemons. The shape of lemons seems to produce the best results (and even then some lemons are better than others - oh dear, here we go again?). Nevertheless, I?ve previously uploaded an image with radishes, and oranges produce a pretty impressive splash. AJ

Sholdn't be too hard to build. A timing control could be added so you could adjust the delay.. I might have to try it..
