Here's the picture before I decided to crop it. I'd love opinions on both.

I like both! It does look a little hot in the nose area though. Other than that I think it is wonderful.

The title has it. Don't worry about the technical stuff. You captured reality.

Both of these work very well. I really love the tones in the cropped version. Beautiful portrait either way!

Angela,

I like both, but I prefer the un-cropped version, only because of the loss of quality by cropping after the shot...

I am just now learning to crop with the lens and not the computer. It only takes a few seconds to shoot 1, or 2 more frames at different focal lengths. And with digital it doesn't cost a dime to shoot more frames... I still forget that I'm shooting digital, after shooting film for so long.

Until last week I only shot 1, or 2 frames on one capture, but now I shoot 4 to 5 frames of each capture, just to see which is better... I also try many different angles, as well... I'm beginning to love the digital world, because there is no more cost involved if I shoot 1, or 100 frames... Yes...

Keep up the good work young lady,

Martin

Thank you so much Martin for the great comment! Yes, I try really hard to crop while taking the shot but I don't always remember. I too hate the loss of quality.
