Amazing shot. This is the first time I've seen the light play across the horizon that way -- such a long sliver of red. Everything about this is so rich and the drama in the clouds is wonderful. The blue between the sky and sea looks a bit unreal in hue and over-saturated, but it is very appealing to me nonetheless. Antonia

Antonia, thanks for the comment. The blue's not 'real' but it's not been enhanced. Velvia takes on this blue colour when shooting in low light and I'd normally correct it using an 81B warm-up filter but on this occasion I knew it would make a nice contrast with the deep red band from the setting sun.

Thanks for the explanation. I had a feeling you hadn't enhanced it based on your "about," and it is amazing that the film does that. It is very surreal and pleasing, and I think you made the right choice NOT to correct it.

Awesome scenery, this sunset is gorgeous ! I love the strong colors and color contrast, glad to see that Velvia film does sometimes the same as my DSLR - takes on this blue, as you daid, and shows us in a way our eyes are not accustomed to see (just thats interesting, IMO, otherwise would be boring). My only nit is the somewhat empty beach. Maybe I would have printed a line of footsteps there, but you did not have the time, I know ;-)

Thanks Carsten. Not only did I have no time but I took the shot from a cliff path nearly 100 metres above the beach! I couldn't see a way down or I'd have taken up a better position to use the high tide line as a stronger lead-in.
