About This one came to life when I discovered that by duplicating the layer and changing the blend mode on the top layer to 'screen', the whole image lightens up!! You'd never believe how dark the original was. It was taken with my first D.S.L.R. ~ a second-hand Nikon D100 that I only had for four days because it turned out to be faulty!! Everything I took with it turned out to be about 3 stops too dark!! I'll post the original shot below, untouched by human PS!!

Have a good weekend everyone. We're off for a Friday wedding in York at lunch time today and won't be back till Sunday night!!

Best regards to all,

Chris

P.S. Now that I look at it, the 'original' looks about 3x lighter on here than the actual 'original' does on my computer!!!! Wierd!!

Beautiful landscape/seascape, Chris, and an interesting "about". I like the composition on this. The boats in the foreground lead the eye right down to the sea. I like the framing on this. Is this one of your "stock" frames? Best wishes and thanks for your generous comments on my pictures, Larry

Cheers Julie

ade mcfade   {K:12388} 8/27/2005
I love fniding out new things in PS - those blending mdes on the layers palette can be a revelation.

My top tip, if you ever needed one, was to use Curves Adjustment layer to get the sky really contrasty (bif S shape does it) then in the layer mask, use the Gradient tool to make the mask white on the sky and black on the land - the gradient gives you a smooth transition between the 2.

That way you can get amazing skies..... which are your trademark anyway.... teaching you to suck eggs here :-)

Have a top weekend.
