About Another car shot :) And yes, I realize it would be better without the fence, but not much I can do about it sitting in the grandstands :)

So what does a vacuum have to do with this car?

This race car is the Chaparral 2J from the early 1970s. It was the result of Jim Hall's idea for a new type of race car. The design and concept for this vehicle incorporated a small two-cycle engine in the back which sucked out the air from under the car and out the back through a set of fans. This created tremendous downforce over 1,000lbs which helped the car stick to the ground and enabled it to exit corners at a higher rate of speed than all it's competitors. Long story short, the car was banned just after 4 races. The 2J was truly a one of a kind race car.

Toshi,
I'm glad to see this car is still on the vintage circuit. I have some originals of this car with Jackie Stewart driving it at Watkin's Glen. I do think it was most likely banned after 4 races rather than 4 years. Four years is a millenium in auto racing. Later on I'll attach an original to this one.

You're right Andre, it's 4 races not years. Thanks for catching that mistake, didn't notice it :)

Def. an interesting race car and design. A longer lens would have been nice, but still shows the uniqueness of this car. Thanks for your comment,

Cheers,
Chris
