Sally, I don't know what bibble is so am not much help. This is very different and very pleasing colors. You have retained very good detail. I seem to lose a lot of detail with IR. I like it. Don.

Hi Sally. Your shot looks filtered, but I like the results. I noticed you have my camera of choice, and the only other digital Nikon that is superior IMHO is the D2X. Try using NC4,or Raw shooter Essentials before using PS. And another thing you can take your raw into adobe and use the "auto Color Balance" which adjust your WB automatically. Hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Thomas - I've used an infrared filter (later I swapped the red and blue channels over in PS)- so the auto whitebalance doesn't work very well - because the whole scene starts off very red - which is why I tried a different raw processor - I'm just amazed at the amount of colour still in it!

Hi Samuel - I can tell you how to do it in Photoshop (I hope that's what your using!).
Open up your photo, go to the 'image' menu and select 'adjustments' and then 'channel mixer'. The box pops up showing the red channel - where the slider for red is at 100% and the blue and green sliders show 0%.
Move the red slider to 0% and the blue slider to 100%, then click on the 'output channel' box and select 'blue'. Now move the blue slider to 0% and the red slider to 100% and click OK - that's it!

Brilliant composition and a very aesthetic tweaking of channels. As far as answering the question you posed, I think Bibble manipulates the image to suit its own "cleaning up" and therefore might shift the white balance.

I just wished you would have captured something nice with this wonderful background then this little monster. may be a beautiful model or a kid and mother playing may be some animals or anything live would have done so much more justice to the wonderful background there.

I don't even understand the question! But I do know a landscape worthy of comment, Sally. Looks like you used a polarizing filter for the sky, it is so 3-dimensional. Your IR filter, gives the trees an autumnal look. I like the inclusion of the dead tree, also. 7.

I just took a photo of what was there at the time.
I'm still new to IR photography, and my shutter speeds are very slow - so I've been trying to find stationary objects (and non-windy days)!

hi Sally, I finally got my Hoya R72 IR filter.
I have taken a few shots with it and can't seem to get any to turn out...I soooooo Love the way your shots turn out. Is there anything You can tell me about shot set up? IE...ISO settings...Shutter speed and F/Stop?
The Shot's I tried over the weekend were @ ISO-100 45sec Exposure And F/Stop F/5.6.
They turned out Extremly grainy...After swapping the red and blue channel..Look horrible..Oh yeah, I am shooting in Manual mode in Raw format.
With the Canon 20D.
If you could possibly help out at all, that would be Awesome.

Hi Sam - I've a couple of suggestions - firstly, I know that it isn't as easy to get an IR picture from a Canon 20D (I think they have a filter in to filter it out!)- so why not try it all in automatic instead of manual - let it do the hard work for you initially and note down the settings/results. I only half cheat - I use apperture mode at ISO 200 and let it sort out the speed itself!
Secondly, on usefilm, you can filter results by camera and category. Search for your camera first on the left hand side (in photo critique), then go to the top and select the infrared category - a few shots come up - take a look at 'frozen lake'.
Bright sunshine helps too! My email is S@lly.co.uk - I'd be happy to take a look at one of your noisy shots to see if I can see anything obvious!

how do you get the sharpness? has your lens a focus correction line?

It's not handheld I'm afraid (tripod), and to be honest, when viewed any larger it isn't terribly sharp either.
I don't have the little red marks on my lenses - instead, I have noisy lenses - so I can set up the shot, pop on the filter and then I half depress the shutter - then if it sounds like it hasn't moved much - I take the shot - not very scientific :) How do you get your urban IR shots so sharp?

My urban shots were made with a lens that has a focus correction ring. So it was possible to do high ISO with 1/20 shutter at minimum DOF.

Do all Sigma lenses have a focus correction ring? What does it look like? Do any Nikon lenses have one? I've always thought I was looking for little red marks!

Hi Sally,
the newer lenses don't have that marks. It's called R, and it's part of the depth of field marks. You do the focus with the AF, then switch to manual and reduce the focal length a bit.
