About This is the big question for me : what do you think about? I don't know what thinking about. I have tried to capture this a lot of time, tried different crops.. just to try some abstract view as some friends do or some UF user take. But it's not easy for me. That's why your opinion is important for me.
Thanks to all
Fabrice
PS : Many thanks To Biliana who has commented the first version that I have removed to take into account her remarks.

interesting image, fabrice! and hard dilemma. In this way i think that the upper part of the floor, maybe, could disturb the vision...then, i take your proposal..mumble..mumble..:-)
what do u think ? :-)) very..very abstract..:-)

fabric sur mer :-)

Andrea Musi   {K:1622} 8/31/2005
Andrea

Wonderful shot , very nice colors , Best regards .

Hey Marco, you're right!! And I like very much what you've done!! This is really abstract, but the crop and rotation you applied which emphasize the blue color of the door..and you succeeded to keep the "see character" of the image.
Good work my friend.. and many thanks to spend time on my work
Fabrice

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 8/31/2005
A bientot
Fabrice

Femke de Wit   {K:5172} 8/31/2005
Fabrice, I think they are both good, your picture because of the lines and colours and the photo of Marco is more abstract. But I think I prefer yours because it's more reality, kand the stairs are crossing perfect the doors. well done Femke

Simone Tagliaferri   {K:28180} 8/31/2005
Bellissima composizione per uno scatto molto grafico.

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 8/31/2005
Thank you very much Femke.. and you like what I like in this shot, i.e., the stair crossing the doors..
See you..
Fabrice

Muy buen ensayo

Verena Rentrop   {K:14426} 8/31/2005
Dear Fabrice,

from abstracting point of view...I still see too much of the real motive...abstract to me...adding new meaning...

I hope you don't mind my version...
I couldn't see it without you...

a hug
Verena

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 8/31/2005
hey Verena thank you for this try.. I like it too!! Just one naive question of an "abstract" amateur (since I look at your work) : why did you not take into account a part of the green door? This is due to the end of the staircase (which is not really nice, one can say that ;) ) that you have to take if you crop the picture with a part of this door?
Thank you for spending time on my work
a hug
Fabrice

The different colours of the doors was the first thing i saw. The diagonalled stairs and the circle winow - just excellent Fabrice!

Fabrice

I like this Fabrice! I have just two observations to make though... A little more saturation would give more bite to the image and I feel it would be improved by a slightly higher viewpoint so as to make the steps appear in profile and hence less of a feature of the image, also allowing more of those fabulous colours to come through.
I had a brief play with this image too, cropping to make the stairs more of a central feature of the image, using the lower handrail as a full diagonal to effectively halve the image. I also increaded the colour saturation on the doors and applied a slight violet filter to the white areas to make it cleaner.
What do you think my friend? I hope you like it!
I'm not tht sure I've improved on your original though as the original image is excellent already!

Alastair

Alternative view...

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 9/5/2005
Thank you very much Alastair. I didn't try to saturate more as the white became too intense in the original but the way you cropped it allows to do that in MHO. So your work is nice and I like also the fact that the stairs are in the centre of the picture, this is nicely seen ;).
What did you mean by using a violet filter to clean the white area? Is it in PS?
Thank you to spend time on my work my friend, and the result is excellent!
Take care
Fabrice

Alastair Bell   {K:29571} 9/5/2005
Hi Fabrice. Thanks for the comment on my version of your image. When I increased the saturation of the image in PS it also made it slightly over warm with a slight orange tinge. So I used a 'Photo Filter' (Image -> Adjustments -> Photo Filter) set to 25% Violet to bring the white back again. I then selectively chose each of the colours again (using Select -> Colour Range) and adjusted the saturation and lightness sliders further to get the desired tones.

Glad to help Fabrice... Its what this site is for!

A bientot Mon ami!

Alastair

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 9/5/2005
many thanks Alastair.. i will try !!
Ciao mon ami

Hi Fabrice! Very nice colours & shapes/lines! Well spotted and composed! I like what Verena did to this one; looks almost like a face :)

Thank you fro your comment

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30027} 9/7/2005
I feel like I get what you are driving at. This is a great abstract set-up! What is it that you are not sure about? I'm contemplating what I would do, and I don't see much to change. There is one thing that might make this have more punch, and that is to push the color and contrast just a smidge. It will, however, detract from the natural tone in this, but perhaps that is o.k. if you are looking to emphasize the abstract, since that would do that. Hope that helps. Antonia

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30027} 9/7/2005
I think this is an excellent rendition Marco!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30027} 9/7/2005

Omar Rifaat   {K:10135} 9/10/2005
Fabrice,
I like the idea that you put this here with an a certain ambiguity and also I have enjoyed reading the various comments. For me, as it is in the original, it feels like a representation of the forces of creativity (the colours) rebelling against formalism and structure (the narrow door frames and the feeling of indefinite vertical repetition created byt the stairs. The fact that the colours are slightly subdued also suggests that they are being 'repressed'. The fact that the doors have round windows (in contrast to the squares everywhere else) also adds to their 'rebel' feeling.
That's my interpretation, and for me because of this the photo 'tells a story' and is very effective.. nice vision..
Omar

Thank you very much Omar.. Your conmment touch me!!

Excellent composition and a nice job of seeing. The colors pop well but a monochrome version might be worth a try.

John Hatz   {K:143808} 9/17/2007
Absolutely amazing photo, I agree with the ideas of many other here about different cropping BUT that is not bad, not at all, that is excellent too...just on that subject you can take at least 10 to 20 other photos that they are also great! really amazing building and great the element of the stairs in diagonal way into your frame.

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 9/17/2007
And you're right John!! Many thanks for your nice comments and remarks.
Take care
