About There used to be a notion in the U.S. that the federal government would provide for the mutual civil defense.

I am wondering what happened to that notion in the past few years.

I shot this today at Stinson Field, and thought the rusty knobs and faded signage said a lot about what is not happening today.

Thank you for for you comments about my photo.

A very sombre picture that depicts life for the majority of us over the last 10-15 years. When the "Cold War" was raging, we knew who our enemy was and where they we located. Since the tradegy of 911, we have all been looking at what our elected officials are doing for us with alot of questions wishing to be answered. Mayby Bono from the group U2 said it right "croocked crosses in Gods' country"!!! Thanks for the capture to remind us all of what we once had...fewer bean-counters.

Yeah, I guess now we know what happens to a well-oiled organization like FEMA when we replace many of its storm-hardened professional veterans with political appointees.
