hi and thank you for such a poetic image,Linda!
This one has what looks like a swirl of water which has that wispy smoke look...beautiful color and light...nice placement diagonally within the frame...like the vignetting,too...good work!
Also,thanks for red cross info...i was very tired at time i posted that info i was given and should have prefaced it saying that red cross was told that before Bush's arrival and only covered no entry into New Orleans...when i called red cross today, i was told yes, homeland security issued the no entry to them, but only for a specified time period....any donation to red cross is a good one,but i chose to donate to america's second harvest because it is more specific...thanks for your support and efforts to let the global community here at UF know help is needed now!.....regards,gayle (thanks for your comments to me,too,Linda...i hope to be up to speed soon)

Thank you too Gayle for your lovely comment and support...Yes I read that Homeland Security wasn't letting them in either and was very concerned about our donations, so I read further and found that information...and was relieved, I thought you'd want to know that too, yes Second Harvest is partnered with them and so are others, I guess the most important thing is that we know the money is needed and donate to any one of them. I am so happy to hear that most of the people have been evacuated, and the donations sound like they are coming in...all is well, thanks again Gayle...:):)

Another very nice rose image.
Capturing the movement of the water against the stillness of the rose emphasises the fragility of such a delicate thing but it's apparent strength is a great metaphor for friendship.

Kathy the dark corners on my last 2 images, that's a vignette, you can make them cover a bigger area, more opaque, or less opaque, hope that helps, you can probably do it in PS or CS2. I have CS2...never think you're dumb for not knowing, we are all learning, and this site is a great place for us to share our information, so feel free to ask, I may not know the answer but if I do I'll be glad to share it with you, thank you too for your lovely comments, I always appreciate them....:):)

Yes, I am really busy this semester. I'm trying to get ready to defend the first 4 chapters of my dissertation in October and I have a new class this term. All this work seems to be effecting my creativity. I need to find some time to just get out of house and shoot. Hopefully that will happen in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again Rocky, I had fun with these shots on the beach. The water was calm, with gentle waves so it worked well. I think I was going through a vignette stage, though I still like to use vignettes. I'm glad you like it. Your words mean a lot to me....big hugs...:)

Those little white swirls around the leaf and flower are really cool. It was really an interesting and creative shot. It gives it a sense of motion but without moving. Kind of like a panning shot. Love the reds in that flower. Yum! Global Thermal Nuclear Hugs (missy)! ~R
