Dave Stacey   {K:114933} 9/7/2005
Very nicely composed, Linda! It's a very moody, atmospheric scene, intensified by the vignette.
Dave.

Kathy Hillard   {K:25721} 9/7/2005
I didn't think I cared for this in the thumbnail, but when it is opened up I really like it! Love that foggy feel that it has! And I do like the vignette.
Kathy

Petal Wijnen   {K:47829} 9/7/2005
Love the scene, but.... ohoh... I'm sorry IMHO you went a bit 'overboard' on the vignetting... It makes this lovely view (of which I would 'loose' the shed (?) on the left, but that's something entirely different...) too grey, dull, drab... almost like you wanted to convert it to B&W but didn't quite get there.... Hope you don't mind me telling you how I feel about this shot.... but I think that's the only way we can learn anything and you can't win them all now can you.... ;-D!!!

Hahahaha...no I don't mind at all Petal, I appreciate your comments, but one point, just because you don't agree with what I've done, doesn't mean it's not good, it just means that you don't like it, and that's ok, art is subjective, we don't all like the same things, I like this very much....thanks again...Linda

Linda Bique   {K:73877} 9/7/2005
Thank you mi querida amiguita, so glad you like this one, I really love your portrait, I saw that it was recommended for an award and I do hope it gets one, it's so well deserved...I hope things are lightening up for you at work...besos y abrazos...Linda

Mark Hamilton   {K:8384} 9/7/2005
Hi Linda

Nice image. The softness of the light it's like waking into a dream.
I like the way the way there is gap in the rocks that enables me to move to the bright center I think that is really effective which is also supported by the title you chose.

The vignette again is nice it gives the image the mood that makes it succeed.

Take care
Mark

Stephen Bowden   {K:64516} 9/7/2005
It certainly does look beautiful Linda, very peaceful and tranquil - looks like a fishermans paradise as well as a photographers lol

Best wishes,
Steve

Sam Graziano III   {K:13947} 9/7/2005
Hi Linda,

From an Artists standpoint you have a winner here.
From a photographers standpoint, you have a winner here.

You are so right, when you say photography is subjective. The fact that we can like a lot of the same things and a lot different things makes us what we are.

You composed this scene wonderfully,IMHO.
You were able to accomplish a very romantic and moody scene the way you did this shot. Anything less would not have the same feel to it.
It looks like a dream world.
Those are my thoughts on this, I really appreciate the fact that you share your work with us, Have a good one.

Kind Regards

Sam III

Paul's Photos   {K:34954} 9/8/2005
hmmm ... interesting image..ok, I am not sure about it actually..I am also not sure what type of overall effect you were trying for...the vignette makes the middle of the image (the water) look a bit overexposed and the rest seems a bit too soft.. Now, since you put it in the moody landscape project .. I can see how it fits in that project and is almost photoart... but I would have liked a bit more contrast applied... just my opinion of course :)

Linda Bique   {K:73877} 9/8/2005
Paul it's always nice to get your comments...I was going after a misty moody look and I really like this one, more contrast will not only take away from the mood, but will definitely make the water look overexposed. I don't think the water looks overblown and I don't think the image looks soft...but thanks for looking and for your opinion...Linda

sherif hussein   {K:13806} 9/8/2005

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 9/8/2005
The beautiful, ethereal light creates a real dream-like atmosphere in this, Linda, I can see why this is a favorite spot for you! Love that one little bird on the rocks - it looks like he's appreciating the scene along with you! :)
I like the minimal color in this - great job communicating the mood of the place!
This looks more like a lake than the ocean, is it? Besos y abrazos mi amiga!

Linda Bique   {K:73877} 9/8/2005
So nice to start my day with words from you mi querido Dirck, I am so flattered that you like this, thank you, it is the ocean it's mostly protected by the reef's, that's why it's usually pretty calm. Yes I really do like this spot, the overhanging tree against the sky is soft and beautiful, and the way the light reflects off of water, and of course, the peaceful water surrounding the rocks..all favorites, and you are the only one that noticed the pelican sitting there, guess he likes it too. In the winter months, we have the terns, hundreds of them, that like to call those rocks home...thank you for your words mi querido...many besos y abrazos. Linda

Ameed El-Ghoul   {K:42185} 9/8/2005

Dr. Rafael Springmann   {K:86479} 9/10/2005
...and I love photos taken into the light, dear Linda and this one is exquisite. Just so that the green in the trees can be seen and yet so dramatic on one hand and quiet on the other.
Thank you for your very generous comment on my "Light and shadow."
Best regards,
Rafi
