About This is quite unremarkable until you realize the insect was approx 9 meters away and the camera handheld using the Nikor 400MM ED/VR lens. Please advise on how I could have shot this better. Topside of right wing was washed out by sunlight. Flowers washed out as well. HELP !!

This is a finely detailed shot but I think you could improve on this. The shot is cropped too close cutting off the wings and the tail of the butterfly. The only other suggestion that I would make would be to bring out the yellows that appear weak in this picture. The lavender is strong but the yellows are week and the main subject has a lot of yellow.
