Simplicity itself, but so well composed and converted, Audrey.
Excellent work.
Best regards, Chris

good shot.

I like this a lot!

Big rusty iron staples overhanging a painted pipe with water drops through the middle.

Because they appear different lengths, you get a nice shaped edge to their composite form. Great exposure in and out of the shadows. Nice angle that allows the viewer to see both ends of the staples.

You've done the math, it looks great!

Joel Garabedian   {K:2041} 9/9/2005
Great idea, well composed. I love the drops of water on the bottom of the rail.

Regards,

Joel.

Christian Barrette   {K:21107} 9/9/2005
I love the graphical language used here. It has style and impact. Very pure in composition and tones. The inetrest resides in the details such as the details on the surface of the hooks, and the dropplets of water on the pole.
Canada ? Where are you more precisely ? Any way Montreal is in your itinerary ?

Petal Wijnen   {K:47829} 9/10/2005
Great shot!!! Simple but very effective in B&W!!! Wonderful tones, textures (those hooks sure look 'rusty'... ;-D) and excellent composition... well done!!! Those droplets are a great bonus as well.... ;-D!!!

Roberto Arcari Farinetti   {K:176377} 9/10/2005
ohhhh audrey..
a very wonderful shot, the simple tones in b/w is amazing!
also the texture and simple composition is disarming!
I like it and perfect is the touch with the drop!
thank you so much also for your kind words to me, but i'm happy for your return..
my best wishes
roby

Thank you to all :)

Stefan Engström   {K:24473} 9/16/2005
I like this photographic "simile" - soft vs. hard hanging down.

Roger Williams   {K:81877} 9/16/2005
It's been a while since you posted, Audrey, but this was worth waiting for! I love it for all the reasons others have given.

Becky V   {K:9681} 9/17/2005
You've got a great eye to see the potential of these hooks as a photographic subject. I love the contrast of textures: the soft rain drops versus the grainy, sharp metallic hooks. I don't know how you achieved it, but the solid white background pulls the attention to where it should be. I really like how sharp those hooks are at the end . . . their form just tapers away and is swallowed up into the blank, white ether. Keen!

Mohammad Reza Shahrokhi Nejad   {K:7076} 9/18/2005
good.
tanx for your comment.
M.reza

Ciprian Ilie   {K:13215} 9/19/2005
Very well composed and excellent exposure. Slightly burnt to bring in the detail.

Regards,
Ciprian

(good to see you posting, Audrey)

Steve Chong   {K:814} 9/21/2005
I find this shot inspiring!

M.M. Meehan   {K:4119} 9/22/2005
this is new. Afraid my mind goes blank in trying to describe what I feel about the shot. Good contrast but a bit too much blank space even though the hooks are pointed and should be more 'active'. Not sure why it does not move for me.

Audrey Reid   {K:5872} 9/22/2005
Hi Maggie, I'm not sure 'why it doesn't move for your' either :) But never mind, its just a boring ole picture of rusty hooks on a wet rod. Instead, lets go around the corner and gossip over a cup of coffee - much more fun :))

Eleisa Martin   {K:2579} 9/30/2005
Great capture. I love how both the hooks and the raindrops are hangning.
Nice job!
Eleisa

In Transit   {K:29358} 10/12/2005
My golly... what sort of fish-hooks... more like those that should be used to place U No Who upon a board... to be dried out in the blazing sun with the salt air... blowing in his face...

Otherwise... 16 tear-drops & 18 points... for a smile <:-)

Nando Mondino   {K:13989} 11/4/2005

hi
this is great shot. i like this minimal languge of ur shot, the direction of hooks and the calmness of horizontal holder. and water dropps create amovement in this calmness.
best regards, Marjan.

James Cook   {K:36680} 4/27/2007
Solid b&w work. What kind of fish are those hooks for? They're huge. (Clearly, James is not a fisherman.)
