wow!!!!! wonderful!!!!! this has a most splendid paintlike aspect!! simply amazing, how great richness of colors, light and textures! the composition has impressively dynamic and powerful ruling lines of force, called in oriental art "the veins of the Dragon", and resembling some paintings by Mantegna. faultless in every way, a precious jewel! warm congrats, top favorite!

Marian Man   {K:67277} 9/9/2005

Subject is obviously the meandering course of the river to the horizon, leading our eyes nicely into the landscape. Very beautiful, as always ;-)

Lovely capture, Chris...thanks for the extra pixels!

Roger Williams   {K:83282} 9/10/2005
I think you sacrificed the frame in a very good cause, Chris. I appreciate the extra pixels. I am working most of this weekend. No photography! You, too, will be working of course, especially on Sunday. God bless you and your flock.

Mary Brown   {K:68553} 9/10/2005
This is fabulously beautiful, Chris. The colours and the feeling of going on and on is grand. It is a wonderful picture, as are all of yours. I have enjoyed looking at your recent posts. I just don't have time to comment on all individually.
Mary

Kathy Hillard   {K:25721} 9/10/2005

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 9/10/2005
Thanks, Roger! I was hoping you'd appreciate the 'extra pixels'. I hope your working weekend goes well. I've got to speak on Genesis 3 ~ it's going to be difficult to cover it all in 30 minutes!!
God bless you, my friend.
Chris

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 9/10/2005
Thank you so much for all your kind and thoughtful comments, Mary ~ they're always much appreciated. I'm just sorry you have no new uploads for me to comment on! ) Maybe soon?
I trust all is well with your new grandchild.
My best regards, Chris

Roger Williams   {K:83282} 9/10/2005
Now let me see... what looks like a road actually starts out as a stream at the bottom of the frame (or where the frame would be), and the road actually fords it just before the stream goes out of sight, covered by closely growing vegetation, and then wends its way down deeper into the valley (Glen). What we see going away into the distance, upper left, is the road, right? I don't think I would have got that without the extra pixels, Chris!

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 9/10/2005
I think you're absolutely right, Roger, and it's that interplay between road and stream, (as well as the twisting diagonal), that gives this shot its fascination for me.
Best regards, Chris

Audrey Reid   {K:5872} 9/10/2005
Few times in my life I have been lucky enough to see real landscape like this - but have yet to manage a keep shot as nice as this. Scenes like this remind us how unimportant we are in the big scheme of things.

Thank you Chris for the lovely comment..you may be interested to know you shamed me into the latest upload :)

good work.
all the best

Larry Quigley   {K:12884} 9/10/2005
An excellent capture of a beautiful valley, Chris. I love the sparkling stream winding down from the hills. A very nice vertical composition which rather belies the usual usage of the word "landscape". I like this very much. Regards, Larry

Rosario Esposito   {K:9796} 9/10/2005
A snake between the green, very nice the color.

I MUST be getting old. I've sat ages looking at this trying to fathom out how you'd got water to run uphill. Then I dilligently read all the comments and finally it's got through to me. Duh!!! Fantastic landscape though Chris and a terrific sky.

Mary Brown   {K:68553} 9/10/2005
Hi Chris. All is well, thank you. However, I am still at my daughter's and sharing my son-in-law's computer. So, my time on it is limited. Also, I have to cuddle sweet, precious Alyssa lots as I'll be going home soon. Then I'll plan to have time to post another picture. Take good care. Mary

Jan Graziano   {K:17041} 9/10/2005
Thanks for throwing in more pixels - what a restful view and the greens are most welcome to someone living in the desert area of AZ who does not see green too often! The DOF is super - and sure would love to have a little house tucked in to one of those hillsides. Another one of your captures that just brings the viewers right into the shot. Thanks for this one, and thanks for commenting on my photo. Have a good weekend yourself - look forward to your next uploads! Jan

Alastair Bell   {K:29571} 9/12/2005
Ah yes Chris... the big country called Scotland definitely needs a big picture to portray its glory! Love that silvery ribbon of water winding its way across the image drawing the eye along the image....

Well done!!!

Alastair

Chris Hunter   {K:25631} 9/13/2005
