About OK...I almost didn't post this one, because of the bits of furniture. I thought perhaps they might be distracting, but I think it helps to add scale to the image, I like the silhouettes, and the lighting. This was taken with ambient lighting...I had to work to get just the right lighting, it was rather difficult, but I love a challenge...I took some others, but I decided to post this one first, I'll probably post the others later...I think this could also go in Unusual Vision but I'm putting it in the silhouette project because that's what I was after...and I hope you like it...:):)

Linda, I think it turned out very well. Really like the lighting of the ones in the shadows and the backlighting of the silhouettes. Well done. Marilyn

Very creative Linda...good light, shadows & silhouettes

Bradley Prue   {K:30312} 9/11/2005
Linda, I think the furniture adds balance to the shot. Without it, the composition may seem to "geometric" or too symetrical. You have chosen a perfect angle to shoot from, and the exposure is very rich and comforting. It is fantastic! ..Brad

Marian Man   {K:64523} 9/11/2005
am glad you did dear Linda!!!!! fine play with light and shadows!!!!! excellent!!!!
my best regards
Marian

L. Gould   {K:11900} 9/11/2005
I love the perspective and the lighting is perfect. I know how hard it can be to shoot in light like this and you have done very well. :)

Darlene Boucher   {K:15622} 9/11/2005
Just beautiful Linda, the lighting is perfect....wonderful image!!

Alison DuFlon   {K:35865} 9/11/2005

Nice silhoeutte and creative thin format of this shot!

Jeanette

Rina     {K:26519} 9/11/2005
Yes, I do like it Linda. For me, I think what makes it a more striking image, is the way you've cropped. Panorama style was a great choice.

The silhouettes are great and I don't think the furniture is distracting at all. It definitely helps with scale and adds another appealing point of interest to the shot.

Fantastic work!!
Cheers
Rina

Toshi    {K:12024} 9/12/2005
Very nice work Linda, wonderful silhouettes of these chess pieces. As you mentioned I do think the background is a little distracting but it is still a wonderful shot with the light illuminating in the center showing off the curves of these pieces. :)

Kathy Hillard   {K:25721} 9/12/2005
Good composition, Linda! Great idea, too! The tones are very nice. The only piece that I find distracting is the plant. I think the rest of it is fine. Well done!
Kathy

Kes     {K:18269} 9/12/2005
Yes, Linda, the furniture provides a scale. I like your crop, and this is a big shot...just step back from the monitor a few feet and it really jumps up in size. That apparent tilt (angle?) adds mystery to the shot.

Susie OConnor   {K:34798} 9/12/2005
Good job Linda! I really like the idea. I agree with Kathy Hillard (she's my sister...I have to!) about the plant. Did you try it without it? I love the look of this photo. Very creative.

Lily     {K:11009} 9/12/2005
Furniture not distracting for me either. I like the lighting. The panoramic cut is very nice!

Rosario Esposito   {K:9796} 9/12/2005
Beautiful perspective, optimal backlighting, all much beautiful. Brava

Hanggan Situmorang   {K:37794} 9/12/2005
Wow, great composition and silhouette, Linda. Looks like a battle is about to begin..:)
Great work, my friend, congratulations!

Robert Kocs   {K:89061} 9/12/2005
Linda this is fantastic image with stirring silhouettes and splendid lights. Looks like it waiting for the last battle. This is lull that foreruns the storm! Nice work dear Linda! My best favorite! :)
My best regards!
Robert

Engy Farahat   {K:11591} 9/12/2005
Fantastic panoramic shot dear Linda. I like the composition so much. I agree with you the furniture adds to the scale. perfect lighting and angle too. and excellent silhouett. well done

ng..

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 9/12/2005
Great point of view in this one Linda! You got some amazing depth in this - sharp all the way from the pieces in the FG to the curtains in the back! The way you presented this really emphasizes the 'battle' aspect of chess - one army lining up against the other, each waiting for the other to make the first move... the dramatic and melancholy lighting adds to that tension! Creative work, mi amiga - you can be so versatile!

John Loreaux   {K:85782} 9/12/2005
Hello Linda!!! How are You My dear friend??? Hope all is well! This is really great! Makes a perfect panorama Linda!!! The silhouettes of the chess pieces are very clear. This is so creative and makes a teriffic photo! Take care Linda! My best always!.......................John

Hussam Abdul Nour   {K:3682} 9/12/2005
great shot and very nice perspective work ..
very nice composition and backlight effect Linda
well done my friend ,,

Fabio Ficola   {K:10466} 9/12/2005
Definitively this version is better for me.

I like the light on the chess and the window as background.

In your next one it feels a bit little as main light in background.

It was a very challenging series..., only wiht ambient lighting -Fabio-

Dave Stacey   {K:115782} 9/12/2005
Very nicely executed shot, Linda! I like the more dramatic perspective of this shot.
Dave.

Maria Luisa Vial   {K:36017} 9/12/2005
Hola mi querida amiguita...

excellent idea, Linda, and superbly executed!
I like the low angle and the d.o.f. is perfect.
Best regards, Chris

Ameed El-Ghoul   {K:42188} 9/12/2005
Very creative Linda,
The composition is wonderful and it really fits in the silhouettes project,
You are right about the furniture, it can be distracting, But I find it adding a flavor and cozy atmosphere,
Very well composed and captured,
Regards,

Sergio  Cárdenas   {K:24811} 9/13/2005
Me gusta mucho la composicion y como entra la luz entremedio de las piezas, es una muy calida imagen
Muchos saludos Linda
Sergio

Gayle's Eclectic Photos   {K:91033} 9/13/2005
hi, i like this shot,Linda!..the wide format suits it and i,too, would like the plant removed...the darker furnishings are ok giving some context.....mostly love the ambient light diffused thru the curtains giving definition to the shapes of the silhouetted chess pieces...nice work and good idea for subject matter!
regards,gayle

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 9/13/2005
Hi Linda,

the widescreen look is well done here. nice entry for the project.

one suggestion: BW? My deep feeling is that this would work in BW as well.

anyway, great view =)

Hugs, Thilo

Paolo Corradini   {K:50745} 9/13/2005
an unusual view for silhouettes, I Like your point of view! I think it's good also in BW

:))

PAOLO

Mary Brown   {K:67818} 9/18/2005
I like this series. This is my favourite, not sure why, though. The chess pieces look like they at a concert waiting for the curtain to go up. Great shots.
Mary

György Szönyi   {K:8347} 9/27/2005
Very good idea, I like the chess figures but I could imagine a more abstract background, just a flow of counter-light. Cheers, Gy.

patrizio napolitano   {K:13119} 10/21/2005

patrizio

Arif Ertan Ersoy   {K:24886} 2/16/2008
